Story
·  November is adopt a senior month, so let us introduce you to our little golden girl, Pru! She’s a frosted little tri-colored Jack Russel lady who is 10 years old and around 16lbs. Pru is a lap dog who is well mannered on the leash, in the car and in the home. She was recently pulled from a shelter, we’re not sure how she found herself there but it’s easy to tell she has spent her life in a loving home. Her happy ears flop when she trots around and she is polite meeting animal friends and people alike. She gently tries to give kisses to every person she meets as well. Pru is a low key lady, she is housebroken, sleeps well in a dog bed at night and has been crate trained but finds herself most comfortable curled up on the couch. If you’d like to see her silly side, break out the treats and she will practically take flight with the speed of her tail! She also sings a little soul song if she hears any high pitched noises or feels especially excited about something, she has a really fun personality! She’s fine with other dogs, doesn’t seem overly interested or bothered as long as they have manners and we think she’d be fine with cats and older children as well! Pru is looking for a family to give her love in her golden years allowing for all the comforts an older lady deserves! If you would love to add her to your family please email us at almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com.   (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 17, 2024, 11:55 am

Story
Yellow/Green—Kid by Kid, Dog by DogHeidi is an incredibly sweet girl who is currently feeling a bit stressed. While she hesitated to come out of her kennel, she quickly adapts and walks wonderfully on a leash. Although she may be nervous around unfamiliar people, she handles interactions very well. Heidi prefers to take her time investigating new people and places before fully engaging. Right now, she is still finding her comfort zone and is not quite ready to play with toys, but she shows potential to learn. She does understand basic cues like `sit` and `wait,` and she has successfully redirected to stay off counters. She is calm around various objects and shows no signs of being easily startled. Heidi allows food to be removed while she’s eating and enjoys being petted. She greeted a stranger with appropriate behavior, although she chose not to engage further. She also interacted well with another dog but preferred to keep her distance afterward, indicating that she’s comfortable with the dog`s presence while still needing her space. Overall, Heidi is a sweet girl who will thrive as she becomes more confident in her environment. For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDTBureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617

Story
Tucker is a 4 year old energetic, lovable, and affectionate boy. He loves playing with kids and other dogs, chewing bones and toys, and running around outside. He struggles with anxiety when left alone and will chew up stuffed animals or toys, but is crate trained and willingly goes in his crate during the work day. He is house trained and whines to go outside, eat dinner, or if his water dish is empty.

Story
ANNIE Attributes Dog friendly Not best for apartments Crate trained Working on housetraining Annie is a cute black and white beagle puppy who loves life. She has some brown on her face which officially makes her tri-colored. She is named Annie because she was orphaned in the Kentucky floods earlier this Fall. She is now 12 weeks old, healthy, and smart. Annie stays in her crate all night and sleeps very well. She knows to sit and goes to her crate when it’s time to eat. Annie loves to cuddle and give kisses. She loves to sit outside in the leaves and the sun. Annie is mostly potty trained and will go to the back door but you have to watch her on a rainy day. Annie loves to play with dogs and people. She still has some puppy habits like chewing and nipping but is easily encouraged to do better. Annie is a wonderful little girl. She is going to make a great addition to a home. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor if you would like to know more about Annie. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
