Story
Mako is a sweet and loving boy who we would like to see in the caring home of experienced dog adopters to help minimize his separation anxiety and drive for connectedness with his humans. We adopted Mako from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh in June 2023, and he is currently about 9 years old and loves walks, sniffing and exploring a fenced in yard, and cuddling on the couch. We're considering rehoming him because, while he always showed some anxiety, the comfort he found after moving into our home seems to have been irreversibly disrupted since September, when our second child was born. While he is amazing with children and other dogs - extremely calm, nonreactive, and just the right amount of friendly - we're beginning to feel that his quality of life requires human(s) that have more time and attention to offer, and potentially even someone who can remain at home during the day to improve his feelings of security. We will miss him dearly, but hope you can love him as we have!

Sweet JJ is a gorgeous tricolored adult Beagle mix whose coat features a patchwork of cream, chestnut and charcoal to black hues and polka-dots! He also boasts the floppiest ears you've ever seen and a lovely white blaze on his forehead (they say he loves gentle kisses there.) At about 4 years old, JJ is often tenderly shy and is overlooked at the shelter but we know with his wonderfully friendly temperament, he will fit nicely into a loving home. This beautiful boy is waiting for his new family to find him at the Brooke County Animal Shelter in Beechbottom, WV. I do love turkey though :) I am Wishbone, and I am a bull terrier/beagle mixed boy with a story to tell! I am so smart like a bull terrier- somewhat stubborn, like a bull terrier, but I follow my NOSE like a beagle! I am super cute, only about 40# and I am pretty active. I love to have a hard playing buddy, no small animals (like kitties) as I have a prey drive- like a bull terrier.. you see where I am going with this, right?? I would love have an active family, kids older than grade school as I love a moving target and smaller ones don't quite understand that. I am a love bug, and once tired out I am the bestest cuddler! Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen.
