Calvin loves getting attention, he'll bump you with his head so you notice and pay attention to him! He'll need a bit of leash work but is very eager to get to work! JJ is a neutered male beagle/terrier mix who is a little over 1 year old. He is a good eater and sleeps well at night on a dog bed in my bedroom. He does not like a kennel. He is pretty energetic and athletic and has the zoomies every day. He was found as a stray at Southwest high school. He is sweet and friendly to all, but needs to be worked with to help him not jump up on people. He NEEDS to be in a home with another dog. He is good as long as there is a person or another dog around him. If he is by himself, he cries and bays. He LOVES toys and empties his toy box every day. He has been pretty good about not chewing on anything other than the toys, but has counter-surfed a couple of times with success. Very affectionate and wants to be skin on skin. He can play fetch and follow a few commands. He has been overall pretty good with potty training, but has had some accidents. He does well on a leash and does well in the car.

Sweet JJ is a gorgeous tricolored adult Beagle mix whose coat features a patchwork of cream, chestnut and charcoal to black hues and polka-dots! He also boasts the floppiest ears you've ever seen and a lovely white blaze on his forehead (they say he loves gentle kisses there.) At about 4 years old, JJ is often tenderly shy and is overlooked at the shelter but we know with his wonderfully friendly temperament, he will fit nicely into a loving home. He was underweight, covered in fleas and ticks, and very weak. Once we got him to our vet we found that he was anemic, the fleas had sucked all of his blood. He is also heartworm positive, and he’s started the beginning of heartworm treatment. He’s feeling so much better and is on the path to good health! Orville is feeling better now, and his personality has started to show. He shows signs of being abused. He is not going to be a good first dog for someone, and he will need someone who’s dog savvy, and will give him space to settle in his environment.

Here's what my friends at the shelter have to say about me!" This girl is teeny tiny!! I'm actually surprised she's even 36lbs! This is her second time at the shelter almost exactly a year apart. It makes me so sad when they're adopted and then found as strays. She's always so smiley in her kennel, sitting at the front of the door quiet as a mouse yet pleading to come out. She did all of her business outside and showed me her good sits and sweet smiles and allowed me to put bandanas and flowers on her no problem. She has multiple good temp tests and will do anything for a treat, including the agility course outside. She was kinda hard to leash back up as she thought it was a game of chase but she's a good girl!"

Mako is a sweet and loving boy who we would like to see in the caring home of experienced dog adopters to help minimize his separation anxiety and drive for connectedness with his humans. We adopted Mako from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh in June 2023, and he is currently about 9 years old and loves walks, sniffing and exploring a fenced in yard, and cuddling on the couch. We're considering rehoming him because, while he always showed some anxiety, the comfort he found after moving into our home seems to have been irreversibly disrupted since September, when our second child was born. While he is amazing with children and other dogs - extremely calm, nonreactive, and just the right amount of friendly - we're beginning to feel that his quality of life requires human(s) that have more time and attention to offer, and potentially even someone who can remain at home during the day to improve his feelings of security. We will miss him dearly, but hope you can love him as we have!
