Story
Grover has been with Angels for Animals since February 1, 2025 but this is his second time here. He was adopted back in February of 2019 and returned to no fault of his own. When he came back, he had a very bad skin infection that is all cleared up now and he is ready to find a new home. He is 8 years old and 55 pounds. He is such a happy guy and loves to play. He seems to like other dogs but has not met cats yet.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Waylon. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs (I'm quite hefty and need to be on a good diet to help get me to a healthy weight). I was picked up by the pound after my owner passed away and there was nobody else to care for me. I'm the sweetest boy! I absolutely love people. I've always been a house dog. I appear to be completely housebroken and although I don't particularly care for going into my crate here at the pound, I keep it spotless, even on the weekends. I am used to being the only dog so I'm not necessarily outright mean to other dogs, but I haven't been properly socialized, so I can be unsure of other dogs and not always have the best reactions. I have been good around neutral dogs that don't really want to be in my face or bother me. I would likely do best in a home without other dogs, or with calm dogs. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Maisy is an 7.5 year old sweet natured female blue tick Beagle who loves people, playing and of course her food. She belonged to my mother who moved into care 2 years ago and has recently passed. We have been taking care of her for the past couple of years. She lives with 5 cats and this proves difficult as she likes to play and they don't. We are also full time workers and she is home alone a lot and we don't like that for her.

Story
Ready to fall head-over-heels for a classic beagle beauty? Dixie is a 3-year-old, TINY beagle tipping the scales at just 18-pounds. She's an absolute sweetie with a heart of gold—and a stubborn streak to match (because, well... beagle).   After raising six beautiful pups, this “Supermom” finally gets her chance to be a spoiled family dog (probably for the first time). She’s gentle, affectionate, and strikes just the right balance between playful pup and window watcher.   If you're not familiar with the Beagle breed, then you should know they are smart, independent, and DETERMINED to do things THEIR way. As sweet as she is, Dixie is no exception. Patience, training, and consistency are a MUST for her to thrive in her forever home.   Now that her mama days are behind her, Dixie's playful side is starting to peek out more frequently. She has done great coexisting with her furry foster siblings (cats are still an unknown), ADORES a good hike or walk, and believes every interesting scent deserves a full investigation!   She’s strong and QUITE enthusiastic on leash, so she’ll benefit from continued leash training and probably a no-pull harness.   A physical fenced yard is required—Dixie’s nose is in charge, and she’s not above plotting an escape when adventure calls. Bonus points if you have a squirrel or 10 to keep her entertained!   And, let’s be real: she’s a beagle, which means she has a big voice when the mood strikes. She’s not excessively noisy, but when she sings, the whole house will know. Apartment or condo living just isn’t for her (your neighbors will thank you).   Dixie is newly housebroken but still adjusting—expect some accidents as she settles into a new routine. She’s worth it!   Healthwise, Dixie has been treated for Lyme and Ehrlichiosis (both very common from tick bites). She'll need a blood test to confirm success and of course an adopter who will look out for her and make sure she stays on year-round protection (a MUST) so she doesn't get reinfected.   Adoption Fee: $300 (includes spay, microchip, vaccinations, and current flea/tick/heartworm prevention).  Apply today at  https://pawsandprayers.org/adoption-application/   Dixie is ready to trade her foster home for one full of adventures, belly rubs, and unconditional love. Could she be the family addition you've been waiting for?May 20, 2025, 2:38 am

Story
Lola is an active young girl around 9 months old. She has lots of energy and needs more exercise than I can give her. She is finally mostly housebroken as long as you learn her signal for needing to go out to potty (never any poop accidents) and keep her on a schedule. She is a goofball who likes fetch and squeekies and can be a lot of fun. I believe she may be a mix of german shepherd and hound as she is smart and stubborn. She also seems to be a bit protective and fearful of strangers. She likes to chase critters so she must have a fenced yard and she likes to dig. We have started on the basics with training and she has got "sit" down pretty well, but her attention span is not very long. She will definitely need more training and something to keep her busy to help keep her out of trouble. She will snuggle when she's sleepy and is very affectionate. She does enjoy the company of our other dog but she plays a bit too rough for her.
