Story
Say hello to Arizona! This lovable pup started her journey with us as a tiny baby, found a family, and then sadly made her way back when her medical needs became too much for them to handle. Arizona has Addison’s disease, which means she takes a pill every day and gets one injection a month—it's part of her routine now, and she's a champ about it. She’s had a bumpy road and can be a little shy at first, so she’ll need some time (and patience!) to get comfortable with new people. Because of her history, we think Arizona would do best in a calm home without young children. She gets along well with mellow dogs and will need a secure backyard for her outdoor adventures. Arizona is looking for someone who understands she needs to settle in at her own pace, no rushing. Once she trusts you, she’s an absolute sweetheart and will show you just how wonderful she can be. If you’re ready for a loyal friend and can give her the care and understanding she needs, Arizona just might be your perfect match!

Story
Meet Starla! This sweet Beagle Mix lady is 4 years old and weighs about 25lbs. Starla came to rescue after ending up in the shelter incredibly pregnant. Despite our vet's best efforts, Starla lost all of her puppies, leaving her sad and confused. Fast forward a few months later, this sweet girl is coming into her own and realizing how wonderful having a family in a home can be! Starla is very sweet, rolling on her back for belly rubs whenever she gets the chance. She loves to go for walks and to explore the yard. She is fostered with other dogs and with cats and has done well meeting everyone, although a little nervous at first. Starla is fostered with two human foster brothers, ages 11 and 6 and gets frequent visits from the neighborhood kids, who love to take her for walks! Starla is great on a leash - sometimes needing a little extra persuasion to keep walking if she hears a scary noise! Starla is working very hard on her potty training skills and has improved so much since entering her foster home. Her foster family is confident that she will continue to improve in a new home with a consistent routine. Starla may have had a rough start, but she has overcome several obstacles to get to where she is today! She would love to keep improving with a family of her own! If you are interested in making Starla a part of your family - apply today! Her adoption fee is $275. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
What a gift this new little foster is! Nicolette “Nicki” is a total lover; loves to cuddle, gentle with small children, great with new people and dogs of all sizes. She is good in a crate and house trained. This beautiful Beagle mix is thought to be about 5 years old, weighs just over 20 pounds.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   December 13, 2025, 8:26 pm

Story
Diary of a Foster Dog Waking up today, I can't stop thinking about finding my forever home. It'll have to be a special one since I'm a bit of an oddball, but I know they're out there somewhere.  Since my vision is spotty, it takes me longer to adjust to new people and places. I really just need someone who is patient and willing to guide me to my favorite spots until I get the hang of things.  I've come a long way in the past year, from living in an abandoned building to living in a real home with humans to care for me. The dogs here have taught me so much and given me confidence, surely my forever family will have a dog to continue helping me become my best self. And cats- I live with those too. I give those unpredictable claw-filled bundles of fur plenty of space, just in case.  I'm looking forward to having a new yard to explore but it has to be fenced- being on leash freaks me out until I REALLY trust you. Foster mom and dad call me an introvert because I'd much rather stay home and snuggle on the couch than go on walks and adventures. My ideal life is a quiet one with structure, consistency, and most importantly- lots of love.  It seems like alot to ask and I know my quirks won't fit every lifestyle, and that's ok! But if you think my precious face would be the perfect addition to your home, please apply to adopt me. I'm ready for the best chapter of my life to begin!
