Story
Tupelo is a sweet soul looking for a place to feel like herself again. This girl is a true blue hound dog who loves to be outside and sniff everything she can get her nose on! Give her a long line walk and a cozy bed, and this girl is set for life. She was a stray found by a good samaritan nearly starved, with a severe hernia, covered in ticks, and clearly in need of some TLC. Tupelo's finder said she did very well with dogs and cats, and she is mild-mannered with people. Tupe lives for mealtime and is always looking for a delicious snack. The best kind of home for Tupelo: Tupelo will do best in a home looking for a more quiet, easy-going companion. Life has been hard on this gal, so she would love a home to call her own for the rest of her days. After surgery to repair her hernia, we expect Tupelo to make a full recovery and be ready to live out her days as healthily as possible. She will make an easy companion.

Story
Tillie is the sweetest, cuddliest girl we know. She is not feeling her best at the moment, so all this gal wants to do is snuggle and snooze in the coziest bed she can find. As she rests and recovers from tick-borne illness and heartworm disease, we know we will eventually see Tillie's true personality. And we suspect her true inner hound dog will come to life! Her previous family said she loves to play fetch and explore. Tillie will, in the future, need a home ready to care for her and provide for all her need for the rest of her life. For now, Tillie is seeking a foster home where she can recover from tick-borne illness and heartworm disease. Her foster should be willing to transport to and from Merritts Creek Veterinary Center for treatment for the next few months. Because of her diagnosis, Tillie must remain calm and not elevate her heartrate. Right now, she feels pretty crummy, but as she starts to heal, her energy may increase.

Story
Meet Danni! This beautiful beagle mix is ready for her new adventure. With you! Though our focus is usually on cats, this little lady was abandoned on our road and never claimed by her former "owners". We have fallen in love with her during the short time she's been with us! Sweet, affectionate, and playful, she is the perfect dog in our humble opinion and would do great with a family or a solo pet parent. She loves attention and craves to be with her person. She is the pupper equivalent of Velcro! She does great on a leash. She is a medium-sized dog around 40 pounds. Approximately 1-2 years old. She gets along great with other dogs and is submissive to them. She loves to play with her dog friends! (She will however protect her food! Warning growls and things of that nature. She is not aggressive.) She WILL chase cats if she spots one in the distance, but she coexists peacefully with them when they are in her space. We believe she would also chase livestock if given the opportunity, so she is probably not suited for farm life. We envision her being the type of dog who would snuggle on the couch with you after a fun day of hiking! She has been trained on an electric fence. I believe she would do wonderfully with kids, and has responded well to "no jump" training. She is a great car traveler! She is learning to enjoy Kong/busy treats to occupy her when her people have to leave. We are uncertain if she is fully house-trained as she currently stays outside, but we suspect she is, and if not that she would learn quickly. Danni is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and up to date on preventions. She is also up to date on her heartworm test. NOTE: she did test positive for Lyme disease. This is not contagious to other dogs or you. It is something she unfortunately picked up from a tick prior to her rescue. She has zero symptoms and is a healthy, athletic, fun-loving girl. She may always show positive on her yearly tests. Most dogs do not require treatment or develop problems, but she will need to be monitored of course. ADOPTION FEE: $250 If you have any questions about her or would like to receive a digital application or schedule a meet and greet, feel free to email or text. No calls.

Story
Born in the shelter shortly after their extremely pregnant mother was rescued. They are wonderful group of pups. They were a pleasure to watch as they grew older. The pups love to play in water and could spend their day in a pool. The pups are very sweet and would make wonderful additions to any family. They don't mind cats *been around since the day they were born) and they would do great with other dogs. They are short and stocky but adorable as can be. We've had wonderful feedback on their adopted siblings and we hope the remaining 3 will find homes before their birthday. If you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!

Story
Beagle Mix. Born in the shelter shortly after their extremely pregnant mother was rescued. They are wonderful group of pups. They were a pleasure to watch as they grew older. Dottie is the smaller sister to Champ aka D.J. and is the last one to be adopted for the first time since being born. Dottie craves attention from her handlers, and we know she needs a home where she will be loved and cared for like she is at HSAC. This girl is so sweet, it will melt your heart. She cries in her kennel because she is tired of being in there. She knows there is something better out there. Dottie does great with cats, dogs, and children. She would like to have a home with a big backyard to call her own.If you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!
