Story
Graham is a senior Beagle mix.  He is around 10 yrs old based on the information that was provided to us.  He is a sweet, playful dog and is very energetic for his age.  He is not good with cats so needs to live in a cat free zone.  He is fine with some dogs but should meet them prior to adoption being approved and finalized. Please call or send an inquiry about Graham if you have interest.  All dogs require an application to be completed and we prefer any residential dogs meet our dogs during the process leading up to approval.  Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. You would never know that this sweet boy is deaf. Howie is the perfect puppy. He is great with other dogs, kids, cats and all humans. He is playful, loves treats and couches. Because Howie is deaf, he needs to be with a very patient dogie sibling that would not react to Howie. Howie can the hear warning signals from other dogs, so if they growl at him, he wont know. If you would like to meet Howie, you an apply to at ricopetrecovery.org. Adoption fee is $350 and includes first 2 sets of vaccines neuter and microchip.

Story
Penelope is a sweet little girl. We think she is a beagle and Labrador mix.Now to brag about the best girl ever. She LOVES grass (as you can clearly see). Potty training has been a blast with this munchkin. She has never pottied in her crate, and potties every time she goes outside. She does occaionally have small accidents in the home, but is very receptive to holding it in as her foster mama rushes her outside.Crate training has gotten infinitely better! We started her on a small dose of anxiety medication, and she immediately became calmer in her crate. She can now entertain herself with toys, and watch her favorite show (Bluey) without a single peep! With the anxiety medication, she has also improved her timidness toward other people & dogs. She now runs around the house playing with her 2 foster siblings dogs. Her aunties have given her a plethora of nicknames that make her tail wag a mile a minute: Penny, Pen E. Ellope, P. Nelson, P. Nelly, and Tiny Wittle Baby. She is definitely a special girl and will make a wonderful companion!Apply to meet Penelope at ricopetrecovery.org.The adoption fee is $350 and includes two sets of puppy vaccines and the spay surgery and microchip at our partner veterinarian. The third and fourth rounds of vaccinations are the responsibility of the adopter.

Story
UPDATE Sissy as shown in the newest picture priviously an only dog shows that she has. decided to smuggle with another furry friend, who knew? a very peasant surprise indeed. She proves that seniors can do new things. UPDATE 9/4/24 Sissy has had a chiropractor adjustment. She is warming up to people. Knowing that she was raised by a lady in an apartment lets us know how comfortable she would be in a similar situation. She also "Baroo"'s when she wants to go outside to potty. Her weight looks good on her at 27#'s now. One other dog for a companion would be ideal and multiple dogs may overwhelm her as something she isn't used to during her 16 yrs. Time spent acclimating her to more dogs may do her good to learn. Sissy can be left alone for a period of time, would curl up and sleep Im sure. Sissy, 16 yrs old in March 2024, was taken in from a one time owner who is currently in a Nursing Home. This wonderful lady spent some time overweight but is now at a prime 28#'s. She is spayed, agile with a very slight limp, takes treats gently, has been in mulitple dog homes for visits, on thyroid medication controlled and maintained. She lived in a first floor apartment but has shown she can do steps. Sissy can potty on leash or in a fenced in area. She isn't a typical lap dog but friendly loves to be petted on the head. As with all dogs Sissy learned silly habits and if you scratch her back end she thinks shes going outside for a walk. She keeps a subtle awareness of her surroundings.

Story
Meet Jerry! He is an 8 month-old Beagle/Dachshund mix who weighs 25 lbs. Jerry was transferred to CHA by our rescue partner Stop The Suffering. This little guy has a big personality! He is playful, intelligent, and is super wiggly when he gets excited. Jerry wants to be friends with everyone he meets and loves when new people stop by to see him. Jerry is still young, and as with any puppy, he will benefit from continued positive reinforcement as he learns his foundational manners and skills. If you`re looking to brighten up your home with lots of silliness, Jerry could be the perfect fit for you!
