Story
Hey I’m Gail! I'm a very pretty beagle mix currently available for adoption. First introductions are not a strength of mine but once I settle in and have a minute to get to know you I am the sweetest little thing you’ll ever meet. I am kennel trained and working on potty training. I just get really excited!  I love to play with my foster humans and their dogs, and even their cat! My ideal home would have a fenced yard for me to romp around in and another dog for me to play with. I’m an introvert at heart and am looking for a home ready to love me as hard as I’ll love them.  Gail is a year old and 35lbs.   To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.November 10, 2024, 8:14 pm

Story
We adopted Blondie with her sister Winnie in early July. We heard that her owner died, and she and her sister were up for adoption. We were told that she was good with kids, cats, dogs, etc. She isn't good with kids. When I picked them up they wouldn't come to me. Over time, it has gotten better, but they are terrified of the kids. They need to be in a home with adults. I love them, but we can't keep them. It isn't fair to them or the kids.

Story
We adopted her with her sister Blondie in early July. I was told that their previous owner passed away. The shelter also said that they were good with kids, dogs, cats, etc. She and her sister were very skittish and scared when I picked them up. They wouldn't even come near me. They have warmed up in the last few months, but they haven't warmed to the kids. They need a home with teens or only adults. It isn't fair to keep them in a home where they are constantly stressed.

Story
Max is a Beagle mix, born 6 months ago (b. April 2024).   Max gets along well with everyone--he's friendly with strangers, children of all ages, other dogs and cats.   He is leash trained and knows some commands.   Max is generally calm, but does become anxious when kenneled or left alone.  Max would really like to be in a home with other dogs or cats.  He's also looking for a family that has time to help him transition from a puppy to a well-mannered adult. Max struggles with separation anxiety.  He will benefit from being with people that can help him learn to trust and gain confidence.  Because he's a young puppy, Max will get into mischief if left alone outside a kennel and he will dig in the yard if you let him! The suggested adoption donation for Max is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2211698##
