This is Riley, a young Beagle/Pug mix (b. 3/13/23) and she is looking for a new place! Riley is a sweetie and just a little shy. She just needs time to warm up to people - treats and belly rubs will help! :) Riley is looking for someone that can be patient with her while she is learning to trust and build a relationship with her person! She is learning how to catch treats in her mouth. She does okay with kids and cats, but should be in a house without young kids for now while she is learning manners (age 12+). She doesn't chew on things except for her dog bones. She is kennel trained and sleeps in her kennel overnight. Sometimes she just needs a little gentle coaxing to go in. She will usually go right in if foster mom puts a leash on her and guides her in. Riley is a little picky with food, but still eats most everything. She loves to be pet and she will decide when you are done petting her! Riley is potty trained and has been fine when left outside of her kennel for a couple hours once she has adjusted to her new environment. The ideal home would have a fenced yard because she loves to run and loves to be outside! Riley enjoys lounging and watching the neighbors while she's outside. No issues with her jumping a 4 foot fence. Riley is a cuddle bug and likes to sleep under blankets. She also loves car rides!! Apply today to adopt this snuggle bug! If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Introducing Kya, a young Beagle/Pug mix (b. March 2023)! Kya loves to sunbathe and spend time outside. She LOVES to go on sniff walks and use the Beagle in her blood. She walks well on a leash and just needs a little more practice when the leash first goes on because she thinks she should walk herself! She knows how to sit (usually :) and will drop her leash if you tell her to. She LOVES to play and wastes no time destroying her stuffies. Kya has springs in her back and bounces a lot. She also knows how to wiggle through small spaces, so she would LOVE to have a fenced yard (at least 4') so she can explore on her own. Kya is food motivated and brave. She also LOVES belly rubs and couch snuggle time. Kya is kennel trained and will go in willingly for a treat. She's a little growly when you first approach her kennel, but ONLY because she really just wants to get out and see her friends. She can hold her bladder 4-5 hours and we're pretty sure this would improve with consistency in a home environment. She is currently on medications to help take the edge off scary and new situations. We think as she adjusts and feels more comfortable in her forever home, the need for medication will decrease. We recommend kids ages 8-10 and older for Kya because she's energetic and might be too much for little kids. She is learning how to settle and sit. Tracy is a 9-year-old Beagle mix that came to MHS as an owner surrender. Tracy is incredibly protective of her home and she has a congenital abnormality of her right front leg that will need proper management due to the increase possibility of arthritis. He is as quick as lightening so if he sees an open door he will try to run. I'm too old to stop him or chase him. He is a well matured dog and knows commands. He loves his humans. We moved to another apt it allows dogs but the main street is less than 10 feet from the apt and he has almost gotten hit several times. Worried for his safety.

Fiona the Lemon Beagle is most comfortable around other dogs and wants to run and play with them. She has made many big steps on her new journey after a life of breeding in a puppy mill. She will take pets in her kennel but not outside of it yet. She has been brave and taken a treat from her foster mom's outstretched hand. She loves to drag all the toys and blankets outside. Fiona has been spending more time out of her kennel but is still hesitant of getting too close. She needs a home with another dog that is mostly calm and will be a companion to her as she learns to become a happy & confident dog. She is going to need a person with much patience and time to work with her. Fiona cannot live with children as they would frighten her. She also fears most adults and will need constant reassurance and gentle guidance. She continues to get more comfortable each day.
