Meet Mason, a 2 year old Beagle mix. He is an absolute sweetheart once he gets to know you. Mason is very hesitant when meeting new people and will take time and patience for him to trust. He may need a couple meet and greets with potential adopters to feel comfortable. Mason cannot be kenneled as it causes great anxiety. He is free to roam the house when I’m gone and has never caused any harm. He loves kids although very small kids might be overwhelmed by him. He gets very exuberant when he gets excited and could accidentally knock a small child down. He is very food and treat motivated. He knows sit, shake with both paws, and lay down. We’re working on stay and off. Mason needs lots of leash training. He gets so excited by all the smells while walking and pulls quite a lot. He loves to run and I’m sure with some leash training he would be a great running partner, once he gets the zoomies get out of the way! Mason would do best with a fenced yard since his beagle nose tends to lead him to places he shouldn’t go. He hasn’t met another dog he doesn’t like! He would love to have a furry playmate to run and wrestle with. Mason lives with a cat and the only time he bothers her is when she runs, then he thinks she wants to play, and he will chase but has never done anything to hurt her. The vet has said Mason has some teeth that could be problems in the future so he will need yearly dental checkups and can only have soft treats. Mason is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. He loves being outside playing but is just as content cuddling on the couch. He will be a very loyal family friend to anyone who has the patience to earn his trust. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. (We have been calling him Otis) He’s had a tough life and was picked up as a stray in Ohio. He is very smart and crate trained, he is working on learning to use a signal when he needs to go outside and go pottyHe is a bit scared when he meets new people and is slow to warm up to them. But once he does he is so snuggly and playful! He really is a happy guy. Sometimes he does not like to share what he values. We’ve been working on that. ( He does coome with a trainer )His best life will be with a quiet household he does require another confident dog in the home to help him overcome his social anxieties. Rambler (6yo, 50lb) is a presumed Beagle/Lab/Terrier mix and needs a home with another dog around his size & age to show him that being a dog IS pretty cool! Rambler came to us from a background of hardship. We aren't sure about his whole story, but came to rescue as a meek and skinny boy and was missing half of his ear. He also came to rescue with heartworm. He was successfully treated and has been diligently kept on Heartguard (Tri Heart Plus) ever since. He has made HUGE progress since being in rescue. This guy deserves to find his forever home. He is working on trusting humans, new dogs, and being away from his foster mom. We think Rambler would do best in a laid-back home with a solid 6ft fence, a confident dog, and a human who is patient and ready for him to break out of his shell. He is crate trained, potty trained, walks well on a leash, and tries to be very brave when he meets new dogs. "Treats!" is one of his favorite words! Rambler is a true diamond in the rough. He is our longest resident (Aug. 2021) and we are hopeful that his perfect human is out there. Interested in adopting? **Fenced yard highly recommended ** Brigid is 18 pounds of love in a fur coat. This amazing girl was left with a large group of abandoned puppies in Texas, only some of them her own, and loved them all until she came to Healing Hearts. She continued to mother the smallest and sickest until they were ready for adoption, and now here she is, ready for her own life of love and joy. Brigid is very affectionate and loves to snuggle, as well as play (balls and crinkly toys are the best!) and patrol the yard for squirrel incursions. She is mostly potty trained, though if left for long periods she has an occasional accident. She has gotten along well with other dogs outside of protecting her little ones and loves snuggling with them if her humans aren’t available. Her canine playmates have ranged from tiny chihuahua puppies, to an older poodle puppy, to a 70 pound pittie mix, and she has adapted her play style to each extremely well. She also loves playing with cats, though a bit too much and too aggressively, so she would do best in a cat-free home. She has welcomed and loved all visitors, after a bit of door barking to let everyone know company has arrived. Not surprisingly with her beagle background, she may not be the best choice for a shared wall situation. Brigid is finally done with her motherhood journey and ready to begin her solo story. Billy is so incredibly sweet. He loves lots of pets and can’t get enough attention and cuddles. Although he is a little shy, he has quickly found a safe spot right next to his foster mom’s side. And each day, he is getting more and more comfortable in his foster home. As mom goes around doing all that she does, he has been picking up quickly along the way. Billy is playful, but probably more of the couch potato, cuddle, and love-me-up kind of dog. He has the softest eyes with the most lovable expressions. So far, it seems that Billy does well with other dogs. Likely, he will do best in a home with one smaller dog with a calmer demeanor. He would do well in a home where his mom or dad is home the vast majority of the time. Billy is not yet housetrained, but we are working on both potty training outside and using a potty pad inside. Billy is quite comfortable in his crate, and will go in as a source for comfort. However, we are still working on being totally comfortable through the night and when mom has to leave the house during the day. But even in a day’s time, we have made great strides! Billy is just so darn loving. He would make a truly wonderful life-long companion pup. Billy is estimated to be 7 months old and 22 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.
