Story
Dog Name: Mama Frama Breed: Mix Sex: Female Age: 6 years Weight: 14 lbs Medical Needs: Spay. An appointment has been requested at Georgetown or Dover (whichever it is) BVSPCA. Keeping this appointment is a condition of adoption. It will not be moved, so if you’re not willing to keep it, please do not apply. Applicants must either live in Delaware, or within 1 hour of where the appointment is scheduled to be eligible to adopt this dog. Housebroken: Mama Frama is just about there. Overnight she may pee in her crate but this is probably because in her prior home she was left for long periods of time without going out. She has not gone in the house except in the crate. Crate trained: Yes. She is put in the crate at 10:30pm and will start moving around 7:00am to go for her walk. During the day, she will lay in her crate while we are gone. If we are home and she is in the crate, she does not make a sound. She is fed in her crate and will sometimes come back to the crate to eat some left-over nuggets. Good in the car: Yes. Does not get car sick and travels well in a small car carrier. Good on a leash: Yes, loves going for walks with her dog friend. She does not bark or pull when she sees people, bikes, golf carts and other dogs. She cowers if another dog starts loudly barking at her. Energy level: Medium. She may be 6 years old, but she loves the world and will get the zoomies. One of Mama Frama’s favorite pastimes is snuggling with her humans. Playtime with her 1-year-old foster brother is a free for all. . Need a fenced in yard: No. She loves her daily walks. Dog Friendly: Yes, currently fostered with a 12-year-old female lab mix and 1 year old small puppy. She is very happy to see other dogs. Best to start with a slow introduction on a leash because she is a small dog and gets nervous and may cower. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly: No cats in her foster home, but she seems to like everyone and everything so she should be fine. Kid Friendly: Yes. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Children should be old enough to be respectful and safe around a small size dog. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Mama Frama is very laid back but loves to stay in her foster’s lap or try to give kisses. She is nervous at first with new sounds and people, so adopters need to be patient. Bath time and steps are not a problem. She loves stuffed toys and will sit for a treat. She has a super sweet personality and is a lot of love in a small package. Fosters Location: Ocean View, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##2204654##

Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
