Story
Doxy is a 9 year old, 17 pound, Beagle/Doxy mix. He was returned to AAU because his adopter was going into a senior living situation. He is a very sweet little dog. He does bark a lot, so he can not live in an apartment or condo. He is house trained, but he’s on Lasix (a fluid pill) for his heart condition. He can only be left for a few hours or so, depending on the time you gave the medication.    Speaking of his heart condition, Doxy does have rather advanced heart disease. He is on 2 other heart medications besides the Lasix. And I’ll add to his being left, that he has separation anxiety. He needs a home with another sweet dog. I would not crate him. I do have 2 personal dogs and I give them and Doxy the run of the house when I leave.    Doxy also has urinary crystals and must be on a special diet. Finally, he has Gallbladder disease for which he must take medication. Summing it up, he will be on a special diet and medication for the rest of his life. He would do best with a fenced yard because of his medication.   I know he sounds like a train wreck, but he’s a very good dog. He loves everyone and other dogs. He is not a fan of cats. Doxy is very attached to his people and smart! He picked up our routine quickly. He enjoys watching TV on the sofa.    Doxy is also a good watch dog. He spends much of his day “lounging”. He loves, loves, loves his evening leash walks. Honestly, you would never know he had any health issues when you meet him. I am retired and have a busy life. Doxy’s health issues have not interfered with my lifestyle. He has only added love to our household! An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online at http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  For inquiries, email inquiry@angelsrescue.org Please be sure to like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue. Doxy is a sweet and loving 9-year-old Beagle/Dachshund mix weighing in at 17 pounds. This charming little guy adores everyone he meets and gets along well with other dogs, though cats aren’t quite his cup of tea. What makes Doxy special:   Doxy has some medical needs, so he’s looking for a dedicated and compassionate -person to provide him with the care he deserves. He’ll need to stay on a special diet to prevent urinary crystals and will require lifelong medications for his heart and gallbladder. Despite these challenges, Doxy is full of life and love! His perfect home: --A fenced yard where he can easily go out.  He's potty trained but prefers going out every 4 - 5 hours. --A stay-at-home parent or someone with a flexible schedule to keep him company and help with his separation anxiety. Having another sweet dog in the home helps him feel secure, too! --A peaceful setting, as Doxy’s barky moments may not suit apartment or condo living.   What Doxy loves: --Evening leash walks—his absolute favorite activity! --Lounging during the day and snuggling on the sofa to watch TV with his family. --Being involved in family routines, as he’s a smart boy who quickly adapts to new schedules.   Though he’s a great watchdog and has some special needs, Doxy doesn’t let his medical issues slow him down. His foster mom, a busy retiree, says he has only brought love and joy into her home. Doxy is looking for someone as special as he is—someone who will give him the love and care he needs to thrive.          January 15, 2025, 8:10 pm

Story
Hello, friends! My name is Jack Star, and I really do feel like a star since I was rescued. I'm getting yummy food, toys to play with, and lots of TLC. I'm a beagle boy and I weigh 29 pounds. I'm estimated to be six years old, but I act younger than my age. Foster mama says I'm a goofball who's down to clown whenever and wherever. I love people and cuddling! I also love other dogs and enjoy playing with them. I am best friends with two of my foster fur brothers and we wrestle and play every day. It's so much fun! I'm perfectly house trained and pretty good walking on a leash. Like many beagles, I let my nose lead the way! I will go into a crate if you give me a tasty treat, but I don't like being left alone and will loudly sing the song of my people for a few minutes before quieting down and napping. It would be best if I didn't live in a place where walls are shared with neighbors like apartments, condos, or townhomes.   I was Heartworm positive, but I've finished treatment and I’m ready to find my new home. I can be pre-adopted in the meantime. Foster mama says whoever adopts me is going to be so lucky to have such a funny  and loving pup. I can't wait to find that special person! I'm going to love them so much!    An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions.     Someone Who Loves Me is Sponsoring My Adoption Fee! Meet Ben Bear Hi there, I am Ben Bear! I'm a sweet and adorable Beagle mix. I weigh just 40 pounds, 40 pounds of complete cuteness, and since I’m 5 years old, I already know how to behave inside a home. That means I'm already house-trained and crate-trained. And even though I have a prematurely gray muzzle, I am still young at heart and love running and chasing balls inside or outside.  I love going for walks, exploring outside, and using my Beagle nose to sniff and investigate my surroundings. But I am also quite happy chilling with my people and hanging out on the couch. I am very quiet and calm so I can live in a house, a townhouse, or even an apartment.  My dream home would be where I am the only pet, with humans who appreciate cuddles and a loving companion. Story
My name is Jeanne! I'm a 10-year-old beagle, weighing in at 26 pounds. I' ve come a long way since I became an Angel dog with a severe medical condition called IMHA - Immune medicated hemolytic anemia that affected my liver.  I'm told that I have had the best medical care in my last 2 years with the rescue ranging from multiple ER visits, regular vet appointments, specialist and continual labs with follow up appointments along with prescription medications.  With this life changing event with my liver, I will have to remain on a liver protectant the rest of my life and I cannot have vaccines for the rest of my life due to the possibility of causing a relapse. I know it is a huge commitment, but I will have "extra requirements for my ongoing care" for the rest of my life including recheck of a CBC (complete blood count) every 3 to 6 months working closely with my veterinarian and avoiding exposure to contagious diseases - this includes group settings with unknown dogs, boarding environments, kennel environments or environments with wildlife.    I'm really g ood at  sleeping the day away in a dog bed , the couch, sometimes the floor and let's not forget about taking naps out on the deck in the sun. I sleep in the human's bed curled up against one of them or in a dog bed on the floor in the bedroom.  I can sleep the entire night away - no worries there  and won't get up until you tell me we have to or that it's time for breakfast !  I love simply being touched and petted, given treats and food.  I'm not destructive and don't have potty accidents in the house, but I do throw up from time to time. I'm 100% trustworthy and never crated. I'll let you know by barking when I need/want to go outside.     Here's a little info: I enjoy being around other dogs - it's kind of crazy at my foster home because I've been around 7 other dogs, and we all like each other. I really just kind of hang with them and we are all just pretty much a pack, but I can be independent too.  I guess if you can say "I get a little loud" when I know it's feeding time because I bark and carry on - that will be most energetic you will see me because it really is the highlight of the day along with when it's time to go upstairs to go to bed.     I would love to meet my new family soon; I've been waiting for you. If you would like to meet me, please submit an adoption application for me today!   For inquiries, email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online at http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms Please be sure to like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue. *Some of our animals receive a high volume of applications, and we strive to select the best home for each animal. Story
My name is Ginger Hazel!  I'm a 2-year-old beagle (DOB 10-12-22) weighing 15 pounds and told I need to put on a few pounds. I was an outdoor hunting dog, but hunting was not for me.I have pretty coloring, if I do say so myself, with two-tone brown and white coloring with gorgeous light hazel eyes that matches my fur, and I use them to look into your soul.     I love getting attention, which I can't get enough of and want to be center of attention. I've been hanging out with all the other dogs at the house (7 others to be exact) and the humans that live in my foster home too. It took me a little time to understand what happened to me and everything was a new experience. I'm working on my jealousy issues because I want my foster mom all to myself and want no other dog to have time with her, I'm probably best to be an only dog for this reason unless you are interested in both Rowdy Ron & I together because I’ve shown I like & trust him.    I lived in a kennel with my mom my entire life next to other dogs in pens, including Rowdy Ron who lived 10 feet away from me. I am working on crate training and house training - if kept on a regular schedule, accidents are minimal. I am a barker because I did live outside my entire life and know no better, but my bark isn't ear-piercing. I'm not a fan when the humans leave me, but I'm told this has to happen from time to time and I then end up sleeping through it after I protest a little.     Toys are new and very interesting.  So far I like the stuffed toys, the ones that crinkle and tennis balls.     I would love to meet a family soon that will want to adopt me and take me home with you. If you would like to meet me, please submit an adoption application for me today! Story
My name is Rowdy Ron! I'm a 3-year-old beagle (DOB 09-16-21) weighing 20 pounds, but I need to put on a few pounds. I was an outdoor hunting dog, but hunting was not for me.    I have pretty coloring, if I do say so myself, with the typical tri-coloring with gorgeous dark brown eyes. I can be a little shy at first, but then I love getting attention - I can't get enough - I want to be center of attention. I've been hanging out with all the other dogs at the house (7 others to be exact) and the humans that live in my foster home too. I'm not a fan when the humans leave me, but I'm told this has to happen from time to time. So, I will end up sleeping through, after I protest a little. I have been sleeping in a crate in the bedroom with the humans and don't make a peep the entire night.     I'm not a fan of loud noises or sudden movements and will take off when that happens so I must have a securely fenced yard. I've been cat tested and lived for a short while with a 4-pound dog, and I had zero issues and no desire to chase. I enjoy cuddling up with you while watching TV, sometimes I even watch because it is so memorizing. I'm overall good on a leash and will take walks, but rather do my business by myself. Stuffed toys are my favorite along with hiding them in plain sight. I enjoy playing with Ginger Hazel and wouldn’t complain if you adopted both of us together.    I would love to meet a family soon who will want to adopt me and take me home.  If you would like to meet me, please submit an adoption application for me today! Story
Hi, I’m Arthur! I’m a 3 year old beagle, and let me be completely honest…I did not have the best experience with people before I came to Hero. My foster family has been really patient with me, and I’m slowly starting to trust again. I still am not so comfortable with hugs and pets, but I do like hanging out with my peeps and knowing they are around. So I need a family who will work with me, be patient, and help me to fully trust and love, and I’ll become your buddy for life. I am told that I’m a very good boy, and I LOVE other dogs and puppies – although those little yappers do make me nervous until I get used to them. I am a hound, so I really need yard with a fence. And not just any fence will do, as I would be up and over a chain link fence pretty darn fast. I’m gentle, sweet and wouldn’t hurt a flea. I’m just looking for a family who can help me continue coming out of my shell and becoming the bestest pup that I know is in here somewhere. If you’d like to meet me, please fill out an application and let’s meet you soon! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Turner is a1 year old beagle boy who is a bundle of fun . He is well mannered, does great with other dogs and was raised with children. He is house and crate trained. Turner was in a loving home but was an only dog and due to children’s activities/ school and full time working parents, they were unable to provide the attention he needs and deserves. He is now in a foster home with plenty of canine interaction and he is doing great! Turner would do best with an active family and another fur friend to play with! He is about 25 lbs and is near his mature size. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Story
Skips is a five year old beagle with the traditional loud beagle howl. He follows his nose everywhere and so he would be best placed in a house with a yard. He does tend to be fearful and timid, but can be won over with lots of treats. Once you've earned his trust you can look forward to the best of cuddles. We're really looking to place Skips and Marty (the husky in the picture) together in the same home, but if we have to split them up, Skips would be best placed in a home with another smaller dog. It may take time to adjust, so we're looking for something transitional where we don't just drop him off and say goodbye. We truly want him to grow and love his new family. So if it takes a few weeks that's ok! We're also ok with an open adoption! haha Would love to see pics of him from time to time living his best life in his new home. ✔ Housetrained ✔ Knows commands "sit" "come" & "kennel up"

Story
I adopted Nanuk at the Atlanta Humane Society here in Atlanta GA. She is currently 10 yrs old and will be 11 this November. Nanuk is a charming Beagle who is affectionate, loves outdoor adventures, and is great with families, children and other animals. Nanuk is fully vaccinated, has her current shots, and is on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention medication. She’s in excellent health and ready for her forever home! As an added bonus, her current owner will cover her flea, tick, and heartworm prevention medication, for the next two months after adoption to ensure a smooth transition. Nanuk is an affectionate and playful Beagle who loves sniffing around, getting belly rubs, and exploring her surroundings. Like most Beagles, she enjoys a good adventure, whether it’s a long walk, a game of fetch, or just lounging around with her family. Beagles are known for their friendly nature and love for scent trails, making Nanuk a perfect companion for outdoor activities and cuddle sessions alike.

Story
Sweetest most cuddly dog ever. He needs a home that has a lot of fenced in space. I do not have that. Love him so much and have zero issues with him other than he would love to be on a big space of land to run more free. I adopted him from a family whom his parents passed away. They had a big farm for him to run around in. I just don’t have that. He also needs a lot of loving on and attention. And I work full time. He was previously with a retired older couple that were always around for him. And I am unfortunately not, since I work fulltime. But he will lay on your lap and shoulder like a baby, sweetest and SOFTEST dog I’ve ever known.
