Story
Meet Tilly This pretty young girl, Tilly, is a ray of sunshine. She is a happy girl, who loves people and other dogs. Tilly is about a year old. She looks to be a beagle/pointer mix. She is of medium size with a pretty white coat with patches. She has deep brown, laughing eyes and a wide smile. Tilly has an upbeat, energetic personality. She loves to play. Her favorite games are fetching and tag. She’d do great with another active dog in the home or with an active family. She is bouncy and silly, friendly, affectionate, outgoing and confident. Tilly loves attention loves to be with people and is never so happy as when she is outside playing. She walks easily on a leash and a nice stroll does her good. She will make a wonderful addition to any family, filling your life with joy and fun. We’re not sure if Tilly is housetrained, but we expect that if not, she’d learn with some gentle guidance and patience. She is eager to please. Tilly is an awesome young pup with a lot of happy personality. If interested in Tilly, please submit an application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Once submitted, please follow-up with an email (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call an leave a message at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Hi, I’m Arthur! I’m a 3 year old beagle, and let me be completely honest…I did not have the best experience with people before I came to Hero. My foster family has been really patient with me, and I’m slowly starting to trust again. I still am not so comfortable with hugs and pets, but I do like hanging out with my peeps and knowing they are around. So I need a family who will work with me, be patient, and help me to fully trust and love, and I’ll become your buddy for life. I am told that I’m a very good boy, and I LOVE other dogs and puppies – although those little yappers do make me nervous until I get used to them. I am a hound, so I really need yard with a fence. And not just any fence will do, as I would be up and over a chain link fence pretty darn fast. I’m gentle, sweet and wouldn’t hurt a flea. I’m just looking for a family who can help me continue coming out of my shell and becoming the bestest pup that I know is in here somewhere. If you’d like to meet me, please fill out an application and let’s meet you soon! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
George and his sister Mae Mae were an owner surrender to us by no fault of their own. Their owner fell on hard times and had to surrender these sweeties. They are both so loving and gentle. George is around 12 and is neutered. The way he looks at you with his big beautiful eyes just melts your heart. He is the absolute sweetest. George is Mae Mae's emotional support buddy. She is very skittish but the shelter is no place for these sweet littles. They were both kept inside and rarely got to go out so potty training may take a little time. George is elderly so please be patient with him. Due to his age we'd like to place him and Mae Mae in a quiet home with a yard to run around in.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Sweet little Mae Mae and her brother George were owner surrenders to us by no fault of their own. Their owner fell on hard times and had no other choice but to give them to us. We gladly took them and they are little angels. George is Mae Mae’s emotional support buddy. She is shy and takes her a while to warm up to you. They are very much bonded and love each other. George walks very well on leash, but Mae Mae does not do so well. So preferably they would need a fenced in yard to be let out to use the bathroom and play.
