Story
Beagle /Cocker Spaniel mixCharlie was born December 8, 2021 to a Cocker Spaniel mom and Beagle dad. He is completely crate trained and house traine. Charlie walks great on a leash, but like any typical Beagle, his nose never leaves the ground. He is extremely sweet natured, and plays well with his four legged foster siblings. If given the chance, Charlie will chase cats. He loves to run around his yard and police it of squirrels! Please send us your phone number if you would like to hear more about Charlie. November 26, 2024, 9:00 am

Story
If you are interested in SKIPPY or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. SKIPPY is one of the most gentle souls in all the universe. He has deep brown heart melting eyes that always seem to be in awe of the big bright beautiful world around him. A couple of his favorite things are cuddle time with his foster family and sunning in the backyard. SKIPPY currently lives in a foster home with many dogs. He is never pushy and has zero desire to be the boss. SKIPPY’s kind, unobtrusive nature will make it easy for him to get along with all resident animals in his forever home. However, SKIPPY would also be perfectly fine as the only pup in the house, so he’s an easy addition to the family. If you are lucky enough to have sweet SKIPPY take a piece of your heart into his paw, he will hold on to it forever! His $540 adoption fee covers his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area For an adoption application on SKIPPY click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Thank you for choosing rescue!!

Story
Bonded 1 1/2 year old Beagle sistersCricket and Tilley are bonded 1 1/2 year old Beagle sisters whose owner wants them to be adopted together. They would be happy living in the country chasing rabbit, or becoming couch potatoes. The girls have never been in the house, so they have not been introduced to house training yet, and have never been around cats. Their owner shares they are extremely smart! Please send us your phone number so we can tell you more about Cricket and Tilley!November 2, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Our Lovable Zena found herself homeless after her owners had a baby and could not handle dog care with a new child. Zena was surrendered directly to our Connecticut Rescue, so she did not have to suffer through a shelter process. Now four years old, Zena is ready to begin her second act in life.  Zena appears shy at first, and had not benefited from much socializing or training In her former home. Some pups serve as placeholders in families until the human baby shows up, and then are cast off to fend for themselves in the rescue process. This sad situation left Zena lacking social skills. Zena needs an extremely dog savvy adopter willing to go slow with her and troubleshoot some stranger danger and touch sensitivity at the vet. Her best fit will be an active adult home, with folks who have rescue dog experience, and who understand that a period of decompression is needed as Zena transitions to a new home.  Zena has done extremely well with her training, and seems to enjoy the process. She now knows most basic commands. We recommend ongoing Obedience work to help her adopter bond, and also to provide mental and physical stimulation. Besides training exercises, Zena needs a few brisk leash walks daily to work out her yayas.  We suspected Zena to be a mix of Beagle and Pug, but when curiosity demanded that we run her DNA, we discovered that somebody had crossed her great grandparents with Rottweiler. Zena is a stout, medium sized dog at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She could easily gain 5 pounds and still be within normal weight range. The Rottie DNA no doubt is the source of her sass! Zena's house manners are good. She is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health. Zena has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Zena, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Darla is the BEST Beagle we’ve had in rescue. Not only is she yummy to loo at…those eyes! Those ears! Her size and markings are adorable. She is not a barker (unusual for a Beagle) and she is fairly calm for a young dog. She gets along great with other dogs and hasn’t met one she didn’t want to be buddies with. Darla is very affectionate and loves to curl up with you on the couch or in bed and binge Netflix. She is as good on a leash as any other Beagle who needs to smell absolutely everything in the vicinity. She loves toys and can entertain you for hours. Darla would be a fantastic new family member to any home. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
This sweet little boy was found as a stray. Quite possibly he had been abandoned. This sweet boy is heartworm negative, he's one year old and very lovable. Not a large boy, he's under 20 pounds. He gets along great with other dogs. We have not noticed any aggression towardscats. He will need to be potty trained. His adoption fee is $550 and that does cover the cost of transport. Fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, all core shots, including a rabies vaccination and Bordetella for the prevention of kennel cough.   currently, he is being fostered in Arkansas, but transport is available to New England. ##2333741##
