Story
If you are interested in SKIPPY or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. SKIPPY is one of the most gentle souls in all the universe. He has deep brown heart melting eyes that always seem to be in awe of the big bright beautiful world around him. A couple of his favorite things are cuddle time with his foster family and sunning in the backyard. SKIPPY currently lives in a foster home with many dogs. He is never pushy and has zero desire to be the boss. SKIPPY’s kind, unobtrusive nature will make it easy for him to get along with all resident animals in his forever home. However, SKIPPY would also be perfectly fine as the only pup in the house, so he’s an easy addition to the family. If you are lucky enough to have sweet SKIPPY take a piece of your heart into his paw, he will hold on to it forever! His $440 adoption fee covers the cost of transport to the middle TN area. For an adoption application on SKIPPY click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Thank you for choosing rescue!!

Story
Lenny is a spirited 3-year-old mixed breed who is ready to find his forever home. Rescued from a Home Depot parking lot at just 8 weeks old, Lenny has been a loyal companion ever since. He loves to play and has a few adorable quirks that make him truly unique. Playful: Lenny loves his ball and will tease you by pretending to give it back, but he just wants you to scratch his butt. He enjoys all treats, thanks to his chunky frame, and loves to cuddle. Affectionate: He is very snuggly with his person and loves to put his behind on you for some pets. Unsocialized: Lenny hasn’t been around many people, so he can be very unsocialized and doesn’t like anyone being around his person. He barks like crazy from his kennel whenever anyone other than his owner walks through the house. Behavioral Concerns Resource Guarding: Lenny doesn’t like anyone being around his person. Unsocialized: He’s not used to being around other people or cats and may not react well. Separation Anxiety: Lenny doesn’t like to be left alone outside for too long. Training Commands: Lenny knows basic commands like sit, shake, and lay down. Potty Trained: He is house trained and crate trained, and walks well on a leash. He’s very food motivated when it comes to training. Ideal Home Lenny would do best in a home without kids and with someone who has a lot of time to spend with him. He might be okay with another dog as long as he’s not left alone too often. An ideal owner would be patient and understanding of his need for attention and his unsocialized behavior. Adoption Info Lenny is a unique and loving dog who needs a special home that can provide him with the attention and care he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves to play and cuddle, Lenny could be the perfect match for you!
