Story

Roscoe is so adorable with his short little legs. He is a sweet and friendly boy who will give you kisses. Roscoe is wonderful with people and good with other dogs. He also likes to play and run around in the yard. We do not know his feelings about cats. While in another shelter, as Roscoe was being walked, he was suddenly attacked by another dog for no reason anyone could see. Roscoe, not having a mean bone in him, did not even try to fight back. He was then brought to the vet where his wounds were cleaned and he was placed on antibiotic. Roscoe's wounds are healing and he would love to go home where he could just get lots of love, toys, treats and a nice soft bed to rest on. Roscoe is about 50-55 pounds and 3 years old. Please help Roscoe find the loving home he deserves. Update: Roscoe tested positive for Ehrlicchia, another tick borne disease similar to Lyme's. He has already started on a course of oral antibiotic and is doing very well. Any remaining pills will be sent home with his new family for completion. Roscoe is currently available for adoption! We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Our dogs are fostered and physically located in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to your location or any of our other delivery location. This pup was born to a basset hound lab mix mom. She was born 7-1-22. This pup is shy at first. She warms up great though. This pup likes cats and loves other dogs. We have started crate training and potty training. This pup will go home current on vaccines and preventives and microchipped. She is spayed and heartworm tested(negative).This pup will receive a certificate of health issued by our vet prior to transport. The adopter will get all health records with adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Shortcake (GA) is a female Basset/Hound mix estimated to be 6 years old at the time of intake in July 2024. Shortcake is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to joining her forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Shortcake is good with people, other dogs and even cats. We don't know what Shortcake's life was like that landed her in a shelter suffering with some untreated medical issues. Fortunately, Shortcake was pulled out of the shelter so she could receive the medical care she required and when we received a request to provide that medical care to Shortcake, of course we said YES! Shortcake's medical issues have been treated and this adorable girl is ready to start her life over with her forever family. Shortcake is sweet (of course!). She is quite a chunky girl and is on a weight loss regimen. Her joints are a bit squeaky, but she's on an arthritis supplement as well. Shortcake is literally one of the easiest going dogs ever and even a little person could walk her easily! Shortcake is on a special food as she cannot have chicken. This is Charlie, he is a little over a year old. Charlie was bought for our teenage daughter who has now gotten a job and likes to do the typical teenage girl things. So unfortunately we just do not have the time to give him, myself and my husband work full time and when we are off we are normally not home due to sports every night. He spends most of his days in the cage so when we let him out he’s ready to go. He is a great dog, amazing with kids, great with other dogs and cats. He is potty trained and does use a kennel. He needs someone who can give him the attention he deserves and who can properly train him, he’s extremely smart just hard headed.
