When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! I'm around 9 months (DOB 1/17/24) and doing all the things a youngster loves to do... exploring, eating, playing, napping, playing some more and of course snuggling. I'm still in that spongey stage of my life where I'm soaking up...everything! I come in at about 30lb and will be a pawsomely perfect mediumish size boy that should be just about fully growed up. Perfect for all your action packed adventures!!! I do have some anxiety that we've been working on (and I'm doing really good) but it would probably be best if I could have a family with another furry sibling and where my human(s) either worked from home or were retired. I do really well with people both tall and small and of course playing with the other foster pups is just the best thing next to milkbones!! AND I haven't even chased the resident kitty!! I'm already house and crate trained, and do well on and off leash. I have many features of a Lab but with the shorter legs of the Bassett so I really really love anything that involves water!!! Hi! I'm Flick! I am from Alabama. From his foster: I have been fostering Flick for over a month. He is a gem. We call him our little Velcro boy. He has the biggest heart. You can see kindness in his eyes. He loves to cuddle up in your arms no matter where you are. Hes a snuggle bug. He loves his kennel. He is treat motivated and goes potty outside - he is learning how to tell us but for now we just take him out and it works great. A fenced yard would be perfect for him. He's a great walker however he does love to stop occasionally to see what he might be able chase- we are working on that. He is a pleaser. He is heartworm positive so we are currently going through the treatment. You learn a lot about the spirit - this is not easy for him but what a trooper he is. Somehow I know he understands the future is bright for him when we get past this. And he knows he's safe and well cared for. Flick will make a wonderful loving companion and friend. You should meet him! Flick could benefit from additional training when it comes to being a good walker (no chasing) and coming when his name is called. Hes getting better and better. When not preoccupied he is really fun to walk with. I think he would prefer to be the only dog in the house but he is gentle and kind to our little foster Lou who is a small breed puppy. Flick is a really great little buddy.

Hi! My name is Estefania and I am from Missouri. From her foster: Estefania is quite a mouth full to say so we have been calling her Eden and she responds well to that. She is going to be such a fun dog with the right family. Right now she is learning what a house is and all the noises that happen in a house, like a garbage disposal and vacuum. While these things give her pause she is acclimating to them. She loves our resident dog and is most confident when he's around. The cats were very curious creatures to begin with which induced some "beagle barks" as the resident kid calls them. She now steers clear of them most of the time. Since she is a bit timid she would do best in a house with older, quieter kids. She allows the resident kids to pet her at bedtime but she tends to stay hidden when they are moving about or too loud. She loves to rearrange their stuffed animals around the house. She has a silly, playful streak that is starting to shine. When it's bedtime she prefers to be in bed with her adults because it's so cozy. The kennel is a scary place which we are working to overcome. She is currently working on potty training too. We take her out on a leash but she isn't a huge fan of being on a leash yet so having a fenced yard where she can take the lead would help speed up the process. She loves people but is still learning to trust. She is going to be an amazing companion with a little patience.
