This delightfully charming youngster is Dolly, listed as a Basenji mix that was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 12/2. She is approximately 8 months old and weighs 29 pounds. Anyone looking for a young, fun-loving, on-the-go, lively, active spunky pup will want to consider Dolly. She has lots of puppy energy and behavior. She is playful and loves toys. In the room in which I did her eval, she went back and forth to the toy box to collect yet another toy to play with entertaining herself, and whoever was watching. She walks nicely on a leash and she is such a friendly, sweet natured girl. When I walked her through the lobby, she wanted to stop and greet every person with a tail wag and big smile! It wouldn’t take long spending time with this youngster to fall head over heels in love! She would doubtless do well with a family with well behaved children who would treat her with respect. She will need daily playtime, enrichment, and exercise. However, she must live inside with her family in order to have the benefit of forming an attachment.

Meet Coco! She is a 1 1/2 yr old Bensenji/American Pitbull mix that weighs 56lbs. She was an owner surrender on 12/12 to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Reason for surrender was unwanted. Coco is stunning! She has been well cared for, fur is clean and soft and does appear to be housetrained. She does walk pretty strongly on a leash, but does take treats gently. She enjoys being petted and put her hands in my lap to get close to give kisses. All the noises in the shelter does make her uncomfortable. She didn`t show any interest in the other dogs barking at her, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home to ask the shelter for a dog test. She hopes to find her final loving family that will provide her with a secured backyard to play in, but will live indoors where she can stay close to her human companions. She is a treasure! Please come meet Coco!

Is anyone missing me? I am an unaltered male Basenji/Dachshund mix that weighs around 10 Lbs. No collar. No chip. I was found in Terry Park in Heath on 12/15/24 and brought to the shelter on 12/16/24. I am currently on stray hold for 72 hours to allow his owners to claim him. If you recognize this dog, please call the Rockwall Animal shelter at 972-771-7750 ext 2.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption.
