Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Looking for an endearing, fun, and well-adjusted little character to share your life with? Meet Frodo! This classically marked black and white rough coat is just a hobbit of a Border Collie, only about 30 pounds and about a year old. Picked up as a stray in rural Wyoming, he was quite terrified at the shelter. WBCR took him in, expecting a super shy dog, and although he was a little timid when on arrival, Frodo has blossomed into quite the curious, social and outgoing little lad in no time!
Since he has come into his own, Frodo is proving to be quite interested in meeting any and all humans, and is particularly drawn to well-behaved kids. He's equally sociable with his fellow canines, loves to meet new dogs and is playful with those that are interested and willing, although he’s not likely to back down should a dog try to make trouble with him. He does like to carry things in his mouth and is beginning to fetch, and he’s not very herdy. He’s shaping up to be a moderately high energy kiddo who will need a good chunk of exercise daily, be it playing with other dogs or going for outdoor adventures with his people –he LOVES bike rides and took to running alongside his foster mom on her bike like a duck to water. Frodo has quite a sense of humor and is still full of puppy zoomies, mischief, and antics – yes, he is a silly kid and it's hard to not smile with this boy around!
And he’s not just the life of the party, but he’s got a few skills to brag about, too – Frodo is housetrained and cratetrained and is working hard on the basics in his foster home. Frodo is a fairly sensitive fellow who is SUPER food motivated, which means he is a pleasure to train! He is, however, still just a kid, and likely had no guidance in his former life – he still will jump up unless coached to sit instead, has little to no recall out in the big bright and exciting world, and like the young teenager he is, will occasionally test boundaries!. So Frodo is going to need adopters willing to take him to a basic training class to help him become the well-mannered canine companion we are sure he can be, as well as establish fair and consistent rules for him to live by. Management will also be handy with this boy, as he is still quite a chewer and is always on the lookout for fun fun fun!
What he is lacking in skills he makes up for in temperament and you would be hard pressed to find a more enjoyable and well-adjusted fellow. Frodo is a wonderful boy who, with a little direction, is sure to shape up to be the dog of a lifetime. Given his great disposition, Frodo is suitable to a lot of different kinds of situations. If you are looking for a lighthearted and full of fun little fellow and have the time and energy to devote to guiding him in the right direction – Frodo may be the hobbit, er, Border Collie for you!
Frodo is neutered, fully vacced and living in a loving foster home near Loveland, CO.
