Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mistee! This foxy little tricolor beauty is as sweet as she is petite. Mistee arrived at WBCR with her sister Mollee. These two were living out on their own in rural Wyoming for quite some time before being brought to a local shelter and then to safety with WBCR. Despite being siblings with likely identical histories – the similarities end there!
Mistee is indeed the "little sister" of the two...she's tinier, and much more unsure than her sister Mollee. We suspect she managed to survive her weeks on her own only due to the help of her sister. While very shy, it's clear Mistee once had human contact. She really loves people, and seeks attention soon after meeting you - as long as your approach is gentle. Living out on your own means surviving by your wits and Mistee is quick to sound the alarms at anything she finds scary, be they new people or dogs. If you are not fooled by this bluff, and crouch to meet her, you will soon find your face being licked lovingly by this little girl who so wants to be loved. She also warms up quickly to other dogs although she is a little cautious around bigger dogs. She plays a lot with her big sister, and is starting to play with the other dogs in her foster home, as well as
discover the wonders of toys! Misty is curious and friendly with the kitties, and enjoys teasing them a bit, but backs off should a feline take a swat at her. Mistee has quite a bit of puppyish energy, but overall is a moderate energy girl who will need a good amount of exercise daily.
This barely year old girlie has already learned a few of the basics in her foster home: she's housetrained, cratetrained (she feels safest in her crate and loves to hide out there), and walks on a leash nicely, too. Mistee will really benefit from a family who will continue her training and slow, steady exposure to the world – both will help build her some much-needed confidence. Mistee is working hard to overcome her fears, but is still on the shy end of the spectrum, and will need a quiet, understanding, and patient home that has experience with helping shy dogs. She will do best where there is a mellow, confident canine whose lead she can follow, and who can provide her companionship as well.
This sweetheart is ready to blossom with the right family. A steady dose of gentle patience will quickly win her over, and soon you'll have one happy, playful pup in your hands that will be a devoted and loving family companion for years to come. If you have a soft spot for those who have had a rough start and need a little extra helping hand- beautiful Mistee may be the girl for you!
Mistee is spayed, fully vetted and living in a loving foster home near Fort Collins, CO.
