Lady is a very sweet, elegant, tortie mama cat who was abandoned in the Oak Forest area in 2022.
She had at least two litters of kittens on the street, including her adult son, Honey Butter (HB) who is also up for adoption, before she came to live with her foster family. Lady was a wonderful mom. HB is more than her son, he's her best friend, and they are very closely bonded, so they are looking for a forever home where they can stay together. They play together for hours every day, chasing, jumping, and swatting at each other. They keep each other busy, so when you're at work, they won't be lonely together.
Lady is smart, affectionate, and well-behaved. She has learned many verbal commands and is attentive to humans, always learning. She likes to be petted very gently, to rub against your legs, and sometimes licks her favorite people to show them love. She is talkative, especially when she wants to eat or to go out to the catio, but she is not loud. She loves to lounge on the catio, and in her favorite chair, and to sleep with humans. She also loves playing with her feather toy, ribbons, cat caves, her own tail (yup, likes to chase it, lol) and of course with HB. She loves to dart out of a cat cave to ambush a feather (or HB) Sometimes she chases the laser pointer, but she's smart, so she eventually figures out that it's coming from your hand. She will also find all of your lost socks and distribute them around the house for you to find. She's a helper!
Lady is friendly to cats and rabbits. Lady uses a Neakasa robot litter box as well as a manual box and has never failed to use the box. She uses a scratching post and cardboard scratching mats. She is very well-behaved. She allows nail trims with some grumbling. She loves Churu and other treats.
Lady loves to eat, maybe too much. So, she is not a candidate for free feeding. She does well with a morning and evening meal, and a little snack at bedtime. She likes to be warm but isn't crazy about wearing sweaters. She has short hair with little shedding.
Lady is somewhat timid with strangers at first but warms up to cat people pretty quickly. She picks her people, for sure! She needs gentle home that will allow her and Honey Butter to bloom.

More about this rescue
Animal Justice League (AJL) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt dog and cat rescue organization with a focus on the Oak Forest and Garden Oaks neighborhoods of Houston, TX. AJL was formed on January 27, 2015, but really, the work began long before then!
In a neighborhood that often serves as a dumping ground for unwanted animals, in a city that is overridden with homeless pets, and shelters that are at capacity, we saw a need and knew it was time to make a difference.
We rescue dogs off of the brutal streets of Houston, help care for those that are no longer wanted or cared for by their previous owners, and are registered to pull dogs and cats from the city, county, and nearby shelters. We also help reduce the community cat and kitten population through a robust TNR (trap, neuter, return) program.
Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through rescue, education, and outreach. Help us make our mission a reality!
