Marcella aka Marcie aka Mellow Carmello aka Minerva was the first of her siblings to purr and still shakes the room when she gets going. She watches and studies her surroundings. She will often wait to see what her siblings get into before joining—as if she’s letting them work out the problems.
A gentle soul, she likes to climb onto laps and chests for love and wants to be in the same room as the humans. Her personality is often overshadowed by her larger-than-life siblings but she is blossoming. She holds her own during play time and can do zoomies with her high-octane sisters but often will decide she’s had enough and would rather get pets. Though there are times when she decides wrestling and romping are her domain and none of them can keep up with her!
She is a bush dweller—she likes to find boxes and hidden spaces—though she loves both the hammock and the little house in the cat tree. She’s discovered napping on bed pillows. She will sit back and let the others eat first, so care should be taken that she gets her share of wet food and treats. With a thick, soft coat that is getting more breakthroughs of caramel in the black, white socks, and the quizzical expression of a spider monkey, Marcie has a unique look.
She is not particularly attached to any name (the M sound does elicit a head tilt and a positive response) and in her home will likely continue to show more of her special personality, helping pick the right name for herself.
Not the least afraid and very interested in the calm dog she was introduced to—at their second meeting, Marcie chose to walk over and place her paws and nose against the glass door (while the dog nose-kissed from the other side). She didn’t move when the dog’s tail became excited and low rumbles of canine hellos were directed her way. She’s a solid candidate to join a family with dog members who are kitten/cat savvy.
Don’t let her calm demeanor fool you, she loves toys and play. Her favorite toys are the Cat’s meow spinner, Catit Senses light up ball track, birds and mice that make noise, and big floppy bows (she carries them around and tries not to trip!) She loves a good tunnel, cardboard scratcher, and supervised bird videos almost as much as watching the real birds at the feeder outside the window. If there is a spot of sun, Marcie will be found lounging in it—on the floor, couch, shelf or chair.
Origin story: born around Labor Day to a tiny, very smart, very sweet wild cat in a neighborhood easement. This was Doug's third known litter. We were finally able to trap her and these kittens at six weeks old. Doug has a lovely energy and an incredible mom to her previous litters—she’s a very skilled hunter. These little ones had a few health issues in the beginning, often seen in wild-born litters, but thrived very early with interventions.
In the foster home, they’ve all been exposed to loud noises and especially the vacuum cleaner. Sleep in an extra-large wire crate at night with a litter box (which you could continue). They've been exposed to a gentle black lab (Hero, Marcella best potential dog cats). They've been raised with two resident brothers who are almost two years old, so are being taught cat manners. Litter box trained with Smart Cat clumping litter. Have been exposed to all textures of wet food and treats. During the day they have the run of the living areas—bedrooms and bathroom
Potential Kitten Combos:
High Octane adventurers: Hero and Sporto
Balanced energy: Marcella and Sporto, Marcella and Fey
Magical partners in crime: Fey and Hero
