Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Vada is a very special dog who quickly won over the hearts of our entire shelter staff. She comes from a rough background and is looking for a fresh start. She is terrified of men; we believe there was some abuse present in her past. She has her guard up, but with time and patience she opens up quickly. Vada LOVES cats and would do best with older kids/teens. She does not like dogs very much. She is really looking for a family willing to rescue her and continue to work on her trust building abilities. She knows her basic commands and seems to be house broken. She's eager to please once she breaks down her emotional barriers. She's going to be an awesome dog for someone, she just needs to be given the chance.

More about this shelter
Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
