Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This poor fellow was left behind in an outside kennel where he had lived his entire life, while his owners packed and moved to another home......without Jo Jo! A neighbor had been watching and was beyond appauled when they had not left Jo Jo with any food or water....it has been a very HOT summer in South Carolina. She intervened so the animal would not die of heat stroke. She called us to take care of this young boy. Unfortunately, this pup was not groomed for his beginning years and HAD matted hair with mud and feces. The mats on his rear legs were so bad that he had to alter his walk. They look like the furry boots that Eskimos wear..Now he is shaved to one lenghth and we are anticipating a beautiful silky chocolate Boykin hair-do.
We believe his dob is June 2008 ...he still has puppy energy. After bringing him home then to the vet to be neutered, we learned the results of his heartworm test were positive. Jo Jo's follow-up appointment, 2 weeks later, showed the baby worms were dying (yeah!), his heart is strong and his lungs are clear.....double YEAH! He was easily crate trained, house trained and leash trained....this young guy is very smart. He made a fuss over two young girls (4yr and 9 yrs old) that were visiting another pup. We are taking the slow way of treatment to the heartworms with the same monthly dosage given to prevent the buggers....it kills the baby worms and eventually the adults die also. It takes time but he is young and strong and looking for a family to be his furever home.
Thank-you for thinking of a rescue animal.
