Meet the Pet
Resilience (Est. DOB: 12.1.21) is a super sweet, polydactyl (has extra toes) girl that bonds strongly to her people over time.
We got a call about Resi when she was just a kitten, approximately 5 months old at the time, and someone abandoned her outside of a local Petsmart. When a manager of the store came to open she was found by the front door huddled against the wall frozen in fear. She was extremely sick, emaciated and in need of urgent medical care. We immediately brought her into our rescue and got to work to get her back to good health.
She LOVES pets and affection. She does however show some signs that she may have endured abuse before coming to us as she has an odd hand shyness. Not your traditional running away fear with hands but instead will continue to ask for pets but once she feels touch lowers her body down as if she has been hit or abused with hands in the past. Despite that she ALWAYS wants more. It’s just a quirk of hers that we have learned to love. She has the most amazing meow that is more of a chirp than a meow. She will follow you around the house with her tiny chirping asking for you to pet her. She also loves her foster mom to hold her but it has taken her a long time to earn that trust with being held, otherwise with people she doesn’t know she wriggles herself away from being picked up. She LOVES to play and particular loves golf balls. She has become her foster dads little caddy when he practices putting in the house, even though she will steal the ball right before he lands the put lol
After a long medical journey Resilence is now fat, happy and ready for her new forever home. She is a special needs kitty who requires a daily medication that she will likely need to stay on for the rest of her life. Fortunately, this medication is extremely easy to give and she actually looks forward to it each night as it’s given in a cat treat. She has gained a little too much weight from her medication which has led to an additional nickname “Butterball”. To help keep her from gaining any more weight the vet has recommended that we do need to be mindful of how much she’s eating and help guide her to loosing a little bit of weight so that is something you’ll need to continue with her if adopting.
If you are interested in learning more about her special needs please email us for more information at info@catsupport.net. After all she’s been through she deserves a stable home that will never abandoned her again and love her unconditionally.
Resi is looking for a calm household with no children and although she does tolerate other cats she really would prefer to have all the attention to herself. She has not yet been introduced to dogs. We aren’t positive on how she would do but if we had to guess she would likely only do ok with a dog that is never calm, lazy (like a senior dog) and would not bother her. She likely would not do well with an active, playful dog or a dog that was very curious with cats and tried to be near her often. An adult only home with no other pets is her dream home however if that’s not your home but you are still interested in her please still reach out so we can chat!
