With his unique tabby markings and big amber eyes, Tanner is a beautiful boy who loves to get your attention. Whether he is nuzzling up beside you or running to greet you as you arrive home, Tanner’s happy place is right by your side! From his adorable little meow to his guttural howls, Tanner will let you know when it’s time for pets and cuddles and when he wants more (which is most of the time). Though he loves attention, Tanner kindly asks that his belly remains untouched during these snuggle sessions. Of course, this preference does not stop sweet Tanner from being a gentle and affectionate companion who will soak up all the love he can get!
Tanner is not just a charming companion; he’s also a purr-fect gentleman with impeccable litterbox habits. He enjoys being brushed, so it’s easy to help him look his best. Beautiful Tanner can be curious about the outside world and may try to explore it for himself! As he has a tendency to “door dash,” it is important that Tanner’s adopter is vigilant about keeping him safe and at home. Regular physical activity (he loves the laser pointer!) may reduce his desire to take unauthorized trips. Recently he has been introduced to the cat tunnel, a place where he can let out his zoomies, while running in and out. When not running around, Tanner finds entertainment in his treat puzzle, the best place for a delicious snack and to test his skills!
It`s important to note that Tanner has Stage 2 kidney disease, arthritis, spondylosis, and a potential heart murmur (with normal cardiac blood work). He eats a special kidney-support diet which he will need to continue for life (he may switch to different veterinary kidney food as his kidney disease progresses; currently on early consult). Tanner also takes gabapentin (25 mg every 8-12 hours) for ongoing pain management, along with monthly Solensia injections for arthritis. Due to a persistent low appetite, Tanner receives an appetite stimulant daily.
Though Tanner will need some extra support to administer his medication, he`ll express an endless amount of love and will appreciate your assistance! He has a lot of love to go around, thrives in the company of new people! This adorable social butterfly will gladly be part of the welcome committee and greet any new guest in the home. Tanner`s friendly demeanour suggests he could potentially adapt well to a variety of household dynamics,
