*looking for a low key household*
Dog Name: Pau Pau
Breed: Lab Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 8ish
Weight: 60
Medical needs: Pau Pau is a distemper survivor. The disease can cause some long-term effect like scarring of the lungs. Due to this, his breathing sounds a little rough but he doesn't require medication. Will be be running any marathons? No! But he is content with short walks. Pau also used to weigh 114 pounds and his previous foster worked hard to get him to a healthier weight, so it's important that his adopter doesn't overfeed him. The thing about Pau is that he has a bottomless stomach and a nose for culinary delights, so you will have to put your foot down and offer him healthy snacks.
Housebroken: Yes
Crate trained: Yes. However, Pau can be crate/barrier reactive with new people, especially men.
Good in the car: Yes
Good on a leash: Ok, some light pulling
Energy level: Medium
Need a fenced in yard: No
Dog Friendly: Yes, currently fostered with 3 other dogs and gets along great with all of them
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No
Cat Friendly? Unknown (can be tested)
Kid Friendly: yes, he was previously fostered with young kids and is currently fostered with two teenagers.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Due to potential reactivity (and since Ive never personally observed him around younger kids) I would recommend teens
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Pau knows sit, down and is currently working on the place command. He’s the perfect example that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks and eager to learn if it involves treats.
Speaking of treats…. Pau Pau came to us from Texas where he was found as a stray weighing a whooping 114 pounds After a 1.5 year diet he is now down to 60ish pounds. That being said, he acts like a 4-legged vacuum cleaner and will try to snatch food if you're not careful.
We’re looking for an experienced owner since Pau can be reactive when meeting new people. Meets are best done outside with some tasty treats. Once he warmed up to you, his tail never stops wagging. Literally NEVER.
