What is it and why do we do it? We "go the extra mile" to help assure that, when you adopt a pet from HSVB&IRC, you'll be making an informed choice. By matching an animal's personality to yours and your lifestyle, we're more likely to assure that you make the right adoption decision the first time. We are using a program developed by the ASPCA. It is called "Meet Your Match." Currently, we evaluate dogs and cats before we make them available for adoption. Also, we ask each prospective adopter to complete an Adopters' Survey which helps identify factors in their lifestyle which might guide their choice of animals. Then, we compare the findings to make a match. Proudly, we have a very high adoption retention rate — a fact we credit to taking this extra step in the adoption process. We want you to make a "SAFER" choice, too. In addition to Meet Your Match, HSVB&IRC has implemented the ASPCA’s Meet Your Match SAFER™ (Safety Assessment For Evaluating & Rehoming) program - a tool for assessing the probability of future canine aggression.
