My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tommy! Tommy is searching a forever home where he could happily spend the rest of his life. Tommy is a social love bug and thinks he is a bit of a parrot as he likes to perch on our volunteers’ shoulders – he loves people and is great with other cats. He has had some very tough breaks in life.

Tommy was abandoned outside at some point and being fed by a kind family. He has war wounds and scars most notably on his upper lip but they do not cause him pain or any issues. His ‘happily ever after’ story got sidetracked when we rescued and neutered him and he escaped out of a window. We were ecstatic when he was found 8 months later several kilometers away. It is a mystery as to how he got there but he found a kind family to feed him again. He was returned to us when he was checked for a microchip. He has learned to become a well adjusted indoor cat.

We thought Tommy’s story finally had a happy ending when he was adopted by a very kind recently retired couple. Unfortunately, the husband had a sudden heart attack & passed away and the wife was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and had to go into hospice about 4 months after her husband passed. Tommy has had some tough luck and so deserves a break.

Tommy has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and vetted. He has had a cyst removed from his back and has had a dental (full mouth extraction) so that is all taken care of for the future. Tommy is FIV positive (negative for FELV). FIV + cats can live long relatively healthy lives with cats that are not FIV +. FIV cannot be spread to people or any other animal species and is only passed to another cat through a deep bite, deep enough to inject saliva into the bloodstream of the other cat – it is ‘not’ passed through shared food, litter boxes, grooming or play fighting/wrestling.

If you have room in your heart & your home for this loving boy, contact us here or email heartstohomesfelines@gmail.com. The adoption fee is $250.
