Andes came to Fuzzy Pawz after being adopted from a local shelter and the other dog in his new home took offense to having another dog in the house. Andes was diagnosed as deaf when in the shelter since he has no response to clapping or snapping of fingers in his immediate area. We are not sure how complete the deafness is or how long he has been deaf. He does bark and does not like the vacuum but that could be due to the vibration or something from his past.
Andes has a gorgeous left blue eye with a dash of blue in his right eye. He walks well on leash and loves his walks. Loves playing with toys, housebroken and in his former home used the doggie door like a champ. He does not care for bright shiny objects such as aluminum foil and will be startled when he encounters such objects. He will get in a crate but does not care for them and tends to bark and whine a lot until let out
The lady who he was with before was teaching him some sign language and he knows the sign for yes and no and continued training with hand signals is encouraged for this boy. He is ok around children, but we recommend that he only has close contact with older children who will understand his special needs.
Andes is a Velcro dog and wants to be always close to his human. He does show some tendencies of being possessive of his human when on a lap and for this reason we feel he would do best as an only dog or in a home with a laid back easy-going female dog who will easily share her human. He is used to sleeping in the bed with his person and this might be a hard habit for him to break as it gives him a sense of security. He is doing ok with the other dogs in his foster home, but caution is practiced.
Andes needs a kid free home.
