Romeo was given to Hearts of Hope Rescue by a breeder. She said "The female just will not get pregnant", so we believe she was a back-yard breeder and Romeo was used to make babies only. He was extremely timid, scared, wanted nothing more than to stay in his crate (door kept open in rescue). It was like he wanted to be out of sight from everyone. He was a very sad little boy, who would not even take a treat from your hand. By the way he acted, scared to death, we believe he was abused or just completely ignored. Now....after being with us for awhile, Romeo is coming out of his shell! He loves treats, wags his tail very fast, loves to be petted and cuddled. He is very bonded to his Juliet. In fact, they are so bonded, when Juliet was in the hospital, the Vet also kept Romeo, simply because he was such a comfort to her. We would so love for them to be able to stay together. We feel Romeo would do best in a dog-experienced home (no first time dog owners), with someone who can work with him a little more, and help him learn to trust and love again. Small children would not be a good idea, as he gets scared easy if too much activity going on. Romeo is up to date on all shots, neutered and housetrained. His adoption fee is $250 The adoption fee would be discounted if they could be adopted together.
