My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello All! Meet Cody. Now that I have had an opportunity to spend time with Cody and help him through his transition, I can see what a special sweet boy he is and had to update his profile to reflect that information. Cody was previously posted with the name Kovu when first surrendered.
Cody is an adorably sweet Border Collie/Pointer mix. He was surrendered by his owner because she had 3 dogs and was forced to give one up when she had to move. Cody was the last dog added to the house so he was the first to go. He is in a foster home and thriving! He is a perfect house guest.
Cody is 2.5 yrs old, up to date on vaccinations, house trained, neutered, and most of all, a super respectful little soul who just wants to please. He does have some food allergies but they are being worked out with his foster mom. His food will be around $100 per month.
He needs training but he will excel through it. He is super smart and is all about pleasing his people, typical pointer personality. Cody’s best home environment would be with an owner who walks/runs and likes to spend time outdoors. Cody can be a little timid about unknown environments at first, as he has had a bit of sheltered life. His previous owner worked 12hr days and Cody spent his days hanging out with the two other dogs he lived with and hasn’t had any “formal” training. Socialization will be a breeze got his as well. He is acclimating very quickly and, I could tell by just his second walk he has lots of confidence he just needs to find it with consistency.
Cody weighs about 50-55lbs. He is tall, lean and agile. He is fast and loves to run, play ball, yes, he fetches and returns the ball, he also sits and is learning other commands quickly. It goes without saying, Cody needs a 6ft fenced yard.
Cody would also be great for barn hunt, agility/rally/dog sports in general, and one other adorable attribute I have to mention about him is he will talk to you! You could have many deep and inspiring conversations; especially about how wonderful he is. Currently, Cody sleeps on a bed on the floor in his foster mom’s room, but he could also be a bit of bed hog and good cuddler if given an opportunity.
Cody is a young and active lad and would be best suited with an owner who likes to hike, jog, or just be outdoors and active. Although he is fine on leash, Cody needs basic training and will soar through any socialization opportunities as well. Cody used to live with two other dogs and currently has a regular play date with a dog in his neighborhood. Cody is good when meeting people/kids and other dogs but probably not a good fit for cats. He just loves to chase them too much. However, he would probably do well if paired with a kitten verses a full-grown cat due to his sweet nature. And I am not sure about other farm animals like chickens and such. But assuming because he has a high prey drive, smaller foul would defiantly be a challenge for him. But again, he continues to impress me, so who knows. Cody can get a little whiny in the car at first and wants to sit up front with you, but that is easily fixed by setting boundaries right away and being an assertive dog owner.
