Pepper is a darling 7 months old, 10Lbs baby girl. Best guess is she'll be less than 20Lbs full grown. Being so small in a big world is a little intimidating for Pepper, but she takes a lot of comfort in human affection. She’s a curious soul with a little bit of spunk thrown in. She loves toys and is adorable to watch chasing after her small ball. She’s doing well sleeping in her crate next to her foster’s bed at night. She’s been out on walks, though passing cars and busy areas make her very nervous.
This little darling is good around other dogs, but can be scared by bigger and/or barking dogs (she’ll want to run and hide). She'd be fine with gentle older kids who are respectful of her small size. Cats are an unknown, though she'd likely try to play with them once she decided they aren’t scary. She does need basic training, to include continued work on house training, but is very treat motive. That will go a long way in moving her training along.
Pepper’s mother, Espiranza, was rescued from a hoarder who had built some ramshackle structures on property that did not belong to him. They were burned down with his dogs inside. Two dogs lost their life. Espiranza, pregnant at the time, suffered burns on her belly. She was rushed to the Vet and gave birth a few days later.
Espiranza somehow managed to nurse her 5 babies in spite of her burned belly and they thrived. But, tragedy struck again when the puppies contracted distemper at about 8 weeks old. Espiranza and her girls Chili and Pepper are all that remains of the family now. They have made their way up to the Pacific NW for a new beginning. Pepper displays no after effects of the Distemper she survived. She’s going to be such a fun addition to some lucky family.
Pepper is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Her adoption fee is $450. She is being fostered in Vancouver, WA.
You MUST have an Underdogs Rock Rescue application on file to request a meet with an Underdog. An online Underdogs Rock adoption application can only be accessed at https://underdogsrock.org/adopt-a-dog .
You must be available to meet an Underdog in their foster's location and dogs are not held for applicants or shipped outside of the Portland metro area. Home checks are also part of the process and will be conducted virtually.
