Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Emily is our wonderful special needs kitten looking for a forever home. She came to our rescue with an infection and congenital disease that has left her partially blind. Though she is lacking sight, she makes up for that in her sense of smell and hearing! With anyone she meets, she will smell, lick, then hop around in a playful manner. She is comfortable around children, other cats, and small dogs. She has not been around large dogs.
Because she is partially blind, her current foster home has taken some measures to help Emily get around the house on her own. So far she has not bumped into furniture or fallen from high places.
Though she is a special needs kitten, she pretty much acts like a regular cat. She LOVES boxes. If it feels like a cardboard box she will claim it! She does very well with toys that make noise. She will follow the sound of the toy impressively well and play with it. Emily does get slightly startled when petted without warning. She prefers being called by her name before being petted. But be prepared for cuddles! Emily is such a cuddle bug!
Right now, we are looking to get Emily into a foster to adopt home. A Foster to Adopt home is a home that will foster Emily with the intent of adopting her after all veterinary needs have been met. This month, she is starting her vaccine series, going to her ophthalmology appointments, and getting spayed at the end of the year.
Because she is partially blind, we would like for her to get used to the surroundings of her forever home while she is still a kitten. This will allow her to have all the time she needs to get herself used to where things are such as her litter, water bowl, food bowl, and toys. She is a pretty quick learner. After 2 weeks, she was able to get around the living room, dining room, and kitchen of her current foster home.
The adoption fee is $150. This fee covers veterinary exams, current vaccinations, FELV/FIV test, deworming, flea/tick treatment, microchip, and spay/neuter surgery done while in foster care.
