My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darling little Callie is one of the special WBCR girls that came from a hoarding situation in Oklahoma, where 120 + dogs were found to be living in rather desperate circumstances, many of them Border Collies. Callie was transferred to a Colorado shelter and was determined to be too shy for the shelter to care for very well...so, she was transferred to WBCR where she could gets lots of TLC and special attention as a loved dog in a foster home.

Like many of the Ada rescues, Callie had no idea what people were or how to trust them. When she first arrived in her foster home, she had to be hand fed for a couple days before she would even allow anyone to touch her. Slowly she has come around to her new situation and is making great progress in gaining confidence and trusting people. Once she is comfortable with a person, she is quite a snuggly and loving girl. She has decided a good ear scratch is a great thing, and if you are lucky, she might let you rub her belly! Although she is beginning to accept attention and affection from more people, she is still very timid around new people and will need continued work socializing her to humans.

In the comfort of her foster home, Callie has started to show her true nature. She really is a huge goofball once she feels safe! She is starting to show interest in squeaky toys and has been caught once or twice tossing a ball for herself, so might be a good fetcher with some more time. We don't see her having any herding instinct just yet. But she's quite athletic  - when she sees her leash she turns into an acrobat and jumps and flips all over the house and bounces like a pogo stick until it’s time to go out. And yes, like a lot of the Ada dogs, she is great on leash and LOVES to go on walks. It took Callie a few days to warm up to the other dog in the house, but once she did they became great friends. She is very social, like the other dogs from Ada in WBCR, and nicely submissive to every dog she has met. She loves to play and has a great time in the backyard with lots of room to run and wrestle.

This itty bitty, freckle-faced girl is just a cutie, weighing in at barely 30 pounds, and has unique markings and a beautiful coat. She's barely even a year old, and is shaping up to be on the higher side of the energy scale. She's cratetrained, nearly housetrained, and can live with a cat. Callie is going to make a devoted and lovely companion to a family who understands her background and who will be willing to work with her at length to build her confidence and help her feel safe in the world. A home with lots of patience and even more love and positive training will be perfect for this little lass. She is easily frightened so a home without young kids will be best for her, but she would probably do wonderfully if there is a confident canine companion dog who can show her the ropes and play with her. If you are sympathetic to the shy underdog, and are willing to put forth some effort in helping Callie to blossom, you will undoubtedly be rewarded with the sweetest and most charming of companions who deserves nothing more than a safe, loving home.

Callie is fully vetted and lives in a loving foster home near Denver, CO.
