Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
River’s idea of a perfect day looks something like this: Burst out of the crate the moment the gate is opened, dash downstairs after the Big Dogs (the two resident adult BCs in her foster home), take a flying leap off the porch, pee in the backyard, and run up to the human for a treat. Then stalk the Big Dogs or creep up on them, wriggling through the grass. There’s also pouncing, wrestling, and flat-out chasing to be done. When the Big Dogs have had enough, there are toys that need to be pounced on, flung around, and mauled. (At this age: River’s to-do list also includes a certain amount of chewing inappropriate objects, but she’s learning fast what’s fair game and what’s not.) In all of this she’s never too busy to come up to you for cuddles and belly-rubs, especially if she hears those magic words, “Awwww, River,” or “She’s so cute!” After her craziest puppy antics she’ll come up and lay her head in your hands, looking up into your eyes. She’s also perfecting a contrite “sit,” followed by a spontaneous and apologetic “down,” all the while staring up at you and trying to convey the message that she deeply regrets whatever it was she did that you didn’t like. The occasional naps in her crate are not her favorite activity, but she’ll go in nicely for a treat and then settle down after a few minutes.
River is just 11 weeks old as of late September, and is clearly quite the little whippersnapper! With her adorable split face and fabulous ears, she sure is a cutie patootie, too. But she's not just an irresistible face! Like any puppy, and especially any full-of-energy Border Collie puppy, River will need a lot of time, attention, training and boundary setting to help her grow into the super duper dog we know she can be. She's very intelligent, responsive, and people focused, so working with her is very rewarding.
She is quickly learning all kinds of skills in her foster home, like housetraining, cratetraining, and basic manners.
River came to WBCR from a small Utah shelter, where she was brought in by a couple who found her wandering in a park, and was never claimed. Although we know nothing of her past, it is clear that to River, the world seems an exciting and interesting place! She's friendly to people and playful with other dogs. She's learning about toys and shows a lot of herding instinct - especially stalking, creeping, and crawling behaviors. She's an especially feisty and confident little lass who’s also very athletic...we see her as a
dog sport prospect for sure. She'll likely be a high energy adult and a bit of a bossy female once she's all grown up.
River is a real go-getter and is going to make an unbelievable dog in the right hands. If you are looking for a pup oozing with potential, have time to work with a pup, love the confident females of the breed, and have Border Collie experience...River has the makings of a wonderful BC who will excel at just about any activity, and she may
just be the one for you.
River is in a loving foster home in Salt Lake City. She has received her first set of puppy vaccs, and has been dewormed and pronounced one healthy, happy little pup! Due to her age, her adoption will include a $100 spay deposit in addition to the adoption fee. The spay deposit will be cheerfully refunded to her adopter(s) once proof of spay is provided once River is approx. 6 months old.
