My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a a well-adjusted, people-loving, easygoing buddy with an unbeatably happy attitude? Teddie is a 2-3 year old Border Collie/Aussie mix that absolutely fits the bill – AND he does it  with style, dignity and just a bit of goofiness!  If you want a family dog/companion, Teddie is it.  He loves to have chill time and just hang out with his family. He is never far away from his people!  If you want a walking/hiking partner, Teddie is it!  He is a dream on leash, and off-leash he never wanders more than 100 feet away and constantly checks on your whereabouts.  If you want a smart dog who loves to learn new tricks and games, Teddie is it!  He is quite proud of himself when he masters a new trick or command and he does it so effortlessly that he is a joy to teach.

Games are a bit harder for him -  it doesn’t seem like he has had a lot of chances in his short life to just play and be carefree - but he is learning!!  If you want a lap dog, well . . . Teddie is it -  all 40 loveable pounds of him! He loves to get on your lap for a hug and cuddle, but only when invited, of course.  If you are looking for a dog who is also a fashion statement, guess what? --Teddie is it!  His good looks draw constant compliments and his kind personality endears him to everyone he meets!

It should come as no surprise that Teddie is quite the social butterfly who hasn’t met a stranger and loves EVERYONE he meets. His foster family hasn't seen him around kids yet, but they can't imagine that he would be anything but wonderful with them. Teddie also adores other dogs and politely greets all who come within his realm. Overly boisterous or impolite dogs do push his buttons and he puts them in their place with a low growl. As for cats? Ah, well, although he can be called off of cats, he does have a somewhat overzealous interest in them and needs to be in a home with either no cats or dog-savvy cats only.

Teddie is a pretty mellow guy with just a moderate energy level, so no need to constantly stimulate him and worry about what he is doing when you are gone! Just a walk in the morning, a comfortable place to spend the afternoon, a little time spent teaching him new tricks, and some ‘hang-out” time in the evening will keep him content.  He is almost totally housetrained, cratetrained (though he really does not need it!), knows basic obedience commands, and continues to learn new tricks and commands. His recall is amazing...and how he loves to be told how wonderful he is every time he comes running to you!  He is a very smart, willing, and sensitive guy, responsive and fun to teach. Loud noises frighten him and angry voices send him running for his crate.

Teddie came from an overcrowded Utah shelter. We know nothing about his past, as he was picked up as a stray. He was quite a mess when he first arrived at WBCR, filthy and matted. But his smile was a mile wide, he greeted us like old friends, and it was clear he was something special. Whoever scores this fella is going to be one lucky adopter.

Teddie is an adaptable fellow and would do well in any home that has a lot of love to offer, as he thrives on attention and is really affectionate. If you want one of those high energy, high maintenance, intensely focused dogs, Teddie is probably not it - his laid back personality does not lend itself to excellence in dog sports. However, if you want the perfect all-around loveable loyal friend and companion, TEDDIE IS IT!

Teddie is neutered and fully vetted, microchipped and living in a loving foster home south of Salt Lake City, UT.
