My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ain't he just so handsome?! Maverick is a seven year old Golden Retriever/Chow mix that is looking for his perfect new family! Sadly, he found himself in the humane society's care when his previous owner had too many animals for animal control's liking and was forced to re-home some of them. The sudden change in environment has shaken this older pup up a little bit, and he can be a little shy around strangers at first, but with some pets and some treats, he warms right up to anyone! He is a very sweet and friendly boy who just wants to be part of the family. Maverick is a little older, but is still pretty active and enjoys long walks and plenty of playtime. And after a day full of adventure he'll be ready to curl up next to his person for a well deserved nap. His previous owners said that he is great with other dogs (although we do recommend a meet and greet with any resident pups just to make sure everyone gets along) but doesn't care much for cats, so he won't be needing any feline company in his new home. He appears to be house trained, but being in a new and strange environment, he might need a little of an adjustment period to get in the swing of things. Maverick is already neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative, so he's ready to go home today! Come meet this handsome fellow at the Waggin Tails adoption center in Benbrook, any day between 12-6pm!
