My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello- My name is Bonna and I actually just arrived to the US in early June 2019! I am originally from Ukraine, that is why my name may seem a little unusual. You can call me "Bonnie" if you want :)

You are probably wondering how I came here all the way from Ukraine- well, it is an interesting story!

I was born on the street in Kharkiv, Ukraine. That is in eastern Ukraine, close to Russia. They often exterminate street dogs there in inhumane ways, but I was really lucky, because there just happen to be a lady from the capital city of Kiev visiting and she found me right before those mean people got to me.

The lady actually operated a kennel in Kiev. There are dogs whose owners pay for them to stay there, and also some homeless dogs. Sometimes people visited to play with us and see if they wanted to adopt one of us. I waited and waited, until one day I heard that one of my other dog friends at the kennel and I were selected to go to America as part of a project to help street dogs in Ukraine!

They chose me because they say I am very beautiful, gentle and smart, but because of my age I had zero chance of getting adopted in Ukraine. There are just so many street dogs there and not so many people willing to adopt a mixed breed dog and most the people who are willing only want puppies.

I am so much better behaved than a puppy though! I am done with the chewing stage, and for not living in a house very long, I was house trained after just a few days! I am also leash trained.

I just had my teeth cleaned and was groomed before I left Ukraine. I travelled on the plane with another dog younger than me and he chewed up his crate and bruised himself in there and is still recovering! I had no trouble at all- I got off the plane and was not scared of elevators or people, they say I am very adaptable and resilient! I also am very kind, I get along with kids of all ages and dogs. I have not lived with cats yet, but I probably would not mind them.

So far I am loving America and living in a home- I am still looking for my forever home though, would you please consider me? I promise to be a very loving and loyal friend.
