Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi everyone, my name is Gibbs! I was named after Mark Harmon’s character in NCIS, and just like him I am very handsome and tall. Unlike most of the dogs in the program, I actually had a family since I was a puppy. Unfortunately, my younger age did not mix well with the two senior beagles in the home, and then I injured my leg. My family thought it was best to find a home that was a better fit for me.
Let me tell you some things about me. I am VERY smart, and I do well in a home that has a consistent routine. I am completely housetrained, and I take treats so gently from a person’s hand (fingers are not a problem). I have a medium-high energy level that is appropriate for my age, and I know that my dog toys, only, are ok to chew.
I do have some separation anxiety that manifests itself with a high pitched bark, and I need to be adopted by a home that does not share walls with another family. My foster family thinks I would do best with a family that has had some experience with the issue. I am crate trained but I can be stubborn about going into it. I also love to play. I have not been able to do much of that recently because I am on restricted activity while my leg heals from my surgery.
I do get along with other dogs, and I lived with five children who were six years and older. I know I will be a great addition to a family who is looking for a younger dog. If you are interested in learning more about me, please mention my name during you approval process.
Note from the foster home: Gibbs is a very nice dog who can often come across as a complete clown. He is a taller beagle (almost 18 inches from the shoulder), and he is very strong as a result. He does well in our home, and we are working to reduce his weight to avoid him potentially injuring his other leg. He would probably do best in a home where alone time is not too significant.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
