What diseases are Kyi-Leos prone to?
Kyi-Leos are generally healthy but are prone to certain health issues, especially those common to small breeds. Some diseases seen in the Kyi-Leo include:
- Dental problems: Small breeds like Kyi-Leos often have dental issues due to their compact mouths. Prevent problems with regular dental care, including brushing and professional cleanings.
- Patellar luxation: This condition, where the kneecap dislocates from its normal position, can be common in small breeds. It might require medical management or surgery in severe cases.
- Eye conditions: Kyi-Leos can be susceptible to certain eye problems, such as cataracts or progressive retinal atrophy (PRA).
- Hip dysplasia: Although more common in larger breeds, hip dysplasia can also occur in small breeds. Keeping your dog at a healthy weight and providing appropriate exercise can help manage this risk.
