PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET ACE….and he's a special guy!  This 15 lb, 3.5 yr old, tan/golden, Lhasa Apso X, came from the Carson Shelter, after another rescue pulled his brother and left him behind.  Poor guy has been through hell, as this was his second abandonment after his thoughtless owners dumped them both in the shelter “because they were moving!!”  This broke our hearts.  I jumped into my car, pulled him out and immediately took him to the groomer and bathed him myself!  Once groomed, we came home and he felt soooo much better! Ace is a big cuddler and kisser with his peeps, once he has proven he likes you.  Recently, we have learned that he doesn't seem to like other dogs and will lunge with most until he gets to know them.  He is BFFs with Jett, but goes after many of our other rescues.  He has a ton of energy and likes to jump up on you, so we think he’d be best in a home without young kids or seniors, especially with his need for training.  We have found he is partial to female dogs and loves to play but seems to be challenged by male dogs.  He does not like being left alone, so he might be best with a female -- perhaps a bit bigger than he is -- one who is submissive and won't challenge him.  OR as your companion where he is rarely left alone.  We know nobody is home 24/7!  He's fine with some dogs (unless he's in a mood), but when you are around he doesn’t like them usurping his glory!  He wants all your love!!   He'd be happy as your one and only if you have time to give him oodles and oodles of love and attention.   This boy is a great eater and isn't fussy.  He is very playful with his two female roomies and with his foster mom.  He is pretty quiet, even when left alone he settles down.  Ace would be a fantastic companion for a runner, hiker, active person who loves to enjoy the outdoors.  He walks extremely well on a leash and does his business shortly after the walk begins!  That being said, if he can't get out and has to go...he will use a pp pad.  So far, we haven't seen him lift his leg, but no guarantees at your house!  While he isn't a lap dog, he would love nothing better to cuddle up to you when the day is done and fall asleep in your arms!  Does ACE sound like your kind of guy? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS ROCKO…and rock’n’roll Rocky is a superstar!! This gorgeous, 17 lb, 2-3 yr old, tan/white Lhasa Apso is the real deal! Unfortunately, in the past he has landed in the wrong place and hasn’t yet found a family that had the time or appreciation to get this wonderful boy training or give him the attention he needs. He is still a puppy in an adult body! And STILL he is very loving, kissy, playful and happy! Rocko is a bit on the wild side — but nothing that some patience, time, training won’t solve. When you are walking him, he likes to run circles around you but we are working on “walk straight” and he responds. He is very smart and wants to please. He is not a biter; he is not aggressive with other dogs or a guarder. He is very demonstrative in showing you he wants to go for a run…or a hike. He ain’t no couch potato…until he has had a busy day playing, going to the park, going on walks and you tire him out. He wants to explore the world, meet and greet anyone on the street and say hello! The best home for Rocko would be one where there is a yard, so that he can exercise and play with you! Kids over 8 yrs old to play with him and a canine companion! His vocal manners are pretty good — we have not heard him bark, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t! AND if you take him out on a regular basis, he is pretty good doing his business outside and will use a pp pad if necessary! But, no guarantees at your house! Does Rocko sound like a pup you could “rock’n’roll with? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. ***Courtesy post - contact Rachel 818-378-8995*** Lucy (11 yo American Eskimo) and Ricky (2 yo Lhasa/Terrier mix) were abandoned in a field together all alone before being picked up by animal control. Story
BANDIT, recently groomed and clipped, is a long legged Lhasa Apso/Maltipoo, who is 7 years old, 17 pounds, and has been an only dog with the same family (who could not keep him), since puppyhood. Bandit does bite people. His main flaw is that he is overly loyal and protective, and will take a bite out of a stranger's foot or ankle if they suddenly come too close. Lhasas are a very ancient breed and were fierce little sentinel and guard dogs for the Dalai Llama and Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. The 14th Dalai Llama sent them as gifts to the West, and they have been a favorite ever since. Bandit is neutered and vaccinated and we are searching for an understanding and patient new home where he can be the dedicated guardian he was meant to be. To learn more about Bandit, please contact: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal donation and sponsorship email)

Story
Sadly, my former family couldn't keep me, so they gave me up and I found my way to Forte where I'm looking for a new home. I love everyone from dogs to kids, and people. I'm very playful and can be submissive with other dogs, but I also enjoy taking a walk on a leash with my humans and especially with other dogs. If you are interested in meeting Inky, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Inky is about 1.5 years old and weighs 13 lbs.] (2503)

Text or email only for direct contact with rescuer approved for same-day adoption located in Lancaster 661-609-2186 memeco635@gmail.com Hello, my name is Rui. I am a Sweet 6 Month Old Papillon that was severely abused and neglected by my Previous Owner . I am extremely skittish, but with the help of other dogs as companions, you will see my playful happy nature. I want to bond with people it’s just extremely hard for me to trust them because of my what I endured, I cannot be trusted off leash For the first few weeks after my adoption, I don’t know what it’s like to be treated like a dog, but with plenty of one-on-one bonding, you will easily gain my trust and I am very food motivated, my rescuer believes I was tormented with a leash so my ideal adopter would give me plenty of reassurance and be very patient and kind to me. I am very smart and I do not want to be somewhere alone I will find a way out so crate training must be applied when I come home. I am potty trained on puppy pads and I am crate trained I do enjoy car rides and I do enjoy cuddling on the bed once I have established a routine and acclimated to my new environment. I am the sweetest spunkiest cutest, long legged dog you’ve ever seen. My rescuer is very attached to me and had a hard time letting me go, but she knows I deserve my forever home where I will be loved and get that one on one time so if you think you can change my mind on people, please contact my rescuer directly with the information listed above my story and she will schedule a time for us to meet. I am approved for same-day adoption and I am looking forward to finding my forever home.

Story
Daisy is a delightful 2-year-old who joined us after her previous owner was no longer able to care for her. This energetic pup thrives on attention and adores sitting on your lap or snuggling by your side. Though she can be a bit timid, her sweetness shines through. Daisy is great with kids, other dogs, and even gets along well with our kitten. While she does need a bit of potty training, she loves going for walks and running around.

Adopting a Kyi Leo

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Kyi Leo - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

The easiest way to adopt a Kyi Leo is through a rescue that specializes in Kyi-Leos. A great place to start is by creating a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the available Kyi-Leos in your area.

You can adopt a Kyi-Leo at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost of adopting a Kyi-Leo is around $100 to $500, which covers the expenses of caring for the dog before adoption and often includes initial veterinary care, vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and sometimes microchipping. In contrast, buying a Kyi-Leos from a breeder can be prohibitively expensive. A Kyi-Leo puppy usually costs anywhere from $800 to $1,500.

Kyi Leo fun facts

Fun Facts:

The name Kyi Leo comes from its double heritage: Kyi is the Tibetan word for "dog," and Leo is the Latin word for "dog," thus honoring both native languages of the parent breeds.

The Kyi Leo looks very similar to the Shih-Tzu, apart from their non-bulging eyes and longer snout.

While no dog is truly "hypoallergenic," this dog is as close as you can get, and great for allergy sufferers!
