Rescue FAQs

Last Chance Animal Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving cats and dogs from unnecessary euthanasia due to overpopulation. The organization achieves this goal through high quality, high volume spay, neuter, adoptions and animal care.

Last Chance Animal Rescue operates in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. We primarily take in cats from more than 40 high-kill shelters in 14 states and provide disaster-relief services for small pets. We partner with 30 PetSmart and Petco stores in the region and provide full service in-store cat adoptions at regional PetSmarts. We adopt dogs from various PetSmarts in Maryland, Virginia and DC every Saturday and post event information to our Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/LCARMD in the EVENT section of the page, check that for upcoming adoption events.

If you want to adopt a dog the first step is to download and fill out our online application:

For dogs the $400 adoption fee is a donation that covers the spay/neuter, testing for Heartworm , intestinal parasites, and tick borne disease, age appropriate vaccines, Heartworm preventive, dewormer and flea and tick preventive.

For cats the $150 adoption fee is a donation that covers the cat having been altered, vaccinated (age appropriate), tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, dewormed, deflead and demited.

Our cats may not be declawed and must be indoor only.
