Located in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal welfare organization serving the greater Marshfield area. MAPS recently moved into a 9,000 sq ft brand new state-of-the-art facility located at 3500 Downwind Dr (behind Slumberland).

We do not have open hours for public viewing of our adoptable animals. We are by appointment only.

We pledge that every adoptable animal will be given the opportunity to find a loving home regardless of space, age or time limitations.

Shelter FAQs

We have service contracts to take in stray animals from City of Marshfield (dogs and cats), Village of Spencer (dogs and cats), Town of McMillan (dogs and cats), Town of Richfield (dogs only), Town of Lincoln (dogs only) and Town of Rock (dogs and cats).
If your municipality is interested in discussing a service contract with MAPS for stray animals, PLEASE give us a call at (715) 486-5140. Thank you for caring!

Adoption Policy:
Adopter must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Online applications are preferred. Adoption coordinator will contact applicants within 2-3 business days. This may vary depending on the number of animals in our care.

Adoption Fees:
Puppies < 5 months = $275.00
Adult dogs > 5 months = $225.00
Senior dogs > 7 years = $150.00
Kittens < 5 months = $125.00
Adult cats > 5 months = $100.00
Senior cats > 7 years = $50.00
Working Cats = $0 (donations are always welcome and appreciated)
BOGO adoptions! Adopt one cat or kitten and the adoption fee for the second is half!
Seniors for Seniors! Senior kitty and Senior citizen (60 years or more) = $25


Adoption Fee includes:
A general physical examination and behavioral evaluation
Canine/feline distemper combination vaccination
Bordetella (canines only).
If old enough, a rabies vaccination.
Deworming medication
Flea/tick treatment (if needed)
Canine heartworm test (if age appropriate). Feline leukemia (FeLV) test available upon request.
Spay/neuter surgery
Microchip w/registration
Certificate for a free wellness examination with participating veterinarians
30 day Free Gift of Insurance
Follow up correspondence with Adoption Coordinator
