Strawberry Fields is a small non-profit 501-c3 animal rescue located in rural Wellington, Nevada in the mountains. I Gina m. Stanchfield founded S.F.A.R. in 2011 when we applied for our non-profit status and received it the end of 2014. My Daughter Jessica and I live on site and run the every day operations. We also groom 5 days a week to support the rescue and it is a plus that we can groom our adoptables before placement.
I grew up in Malibu, California and was the first pet groomer in Malibu, as well as ran or managed several kennels in that area over the 30 years that I lived there. I raised and trained all types of animals domestic and exotic. I have been an animal activist my entire life and the apple did not fall far from the tree. My Daughter Jessica grew up as one with the pack surrounded by animals her entire life. When she got out of pre-school she spent her afternoons in my grooming shop until the work day was done.
Jessica became an experienced dog handler early on. She is also an accomplished dog trainer, she worked and trained dogs for two years under Guy Yeaman who is well know throughout our area for the last 30 years Guy offers obedience classes in at least 8 different locations throughout the week here in Northern Nevada which all of our dogs attend. Our slogan is "One by one until there are none on a wing and a prayer and a paw."
We have rescued and re-homed all types of animals, small and large, domestic and exotic, feathers or fur, scales or skin. Since 2011 we have re-homed hundreds of animals. We continue to do the good work that we do and this is the paw print we wish to leave on the planet.
Dog Bless :)
