At the Rural Animal Rescue & Foster Society our mission is to rescue and protect domestic animals through fostering programs and good adoptions. We are not breed specific, and often take in old and/or sick animals. We ensure that all our animals are spayed/neutered and kept up to date on vaccines. All our animals get monthly flea and heart worm prevention treatments. We're dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation, and offer public education about the many ways of reducing animal neglect. Because we often take in abused animals, we work to socialize all animals before adoption. We started rescuing because so many animals are abandoned in Tennessee, and we kept finding abandoned dogs from puppy to elderly ones, and could not, in good conscience, leave them out there to starve or be hurt further. It has since become our life's work and we are up to 40 dogs and while we adopt many out, we take in more every day.

We are located in middle Tennessee but look to the Northeast to find homes for our dogs. We work with dogs who need extra TLC so loving, patient owners are a must.
Additional adoption info
We charge between $100-$150 per dog depending on what vetting the animal has needed. We also guide adopting families to the pet transport company which charges $150 per pet being transported to their new home - we transport to the Northeast and the eastern seaboard only. People located in other parts of the country must arrange transport themselves. Adopting families are required to fill out an application, provide two references, and sign a contract promising excellent care for their new pet. In some cases, we will make home visits.
