Our mission at peacelovedogs is to rescue dogs in the Houston area, get them healthy and find their forever homes.
All dogs are fully vetted before adoption- spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test, de-worming and grooming IF they are healthy. Many are not and require additional vet care: x-rays, leg surgery, dentals and heartworm treatment to name a few.
The majority of our dogs come from local high kill shelters and or area of Houston like The 'East End' and 'Cooridor of Cruelty.'
Many come to us matted and neglected, Darci is a professional groomer so has to do some major grooming. Some of our dogs were feral when rescued and had to learn to trust humans again, we get dogs that have behavior issues that need professional help and dogs with health problems. We won't give up on a dog.
We prefer to adopt our dogs in the New England area since smaller dogs aren't in shelters and on the streets like in Houston. We have an over population problem here, there are many rescues but our shelters are always full with an 84%+ kill rate and an estimated 1.2 million homeless pets on our streets.
We use Rescue Road Trips to transport our dogs from the Houston area to New England area. Over 10 years they have transported over 55,000 dogs from the South to New England. The families wait for the truck to pull up, signs waiving to meet their new dog, its called Gotcha Day! ❤️
We are a small rescue and run completely off donations and the help of our foster homes.
