Rescue FAQs

Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are NOT a shelter. We are a network of caring foster homes where our dogs are temporarily 'rehomed' and socialized. These small companion rescued dogs are only placed in homes where they will be accepted as part of the adopting family. Our dogs do not live in kennels. These dogs come from many sources: state-wide animal shelters, private homes, and actual rescues from dangerous or abusive situations. For more than a decade Lap Dog Rescue of NM has saved thousands of NM shelter dogs. We work collaboratively with shelters and rescues all over New Mexico. We adopt out to qualified individuals in NM, southern CO, and west Texas.
