Rescue FAQs

The Pet Adoption Center of Orange County is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that develops and provides creative solutions to find safe, loving, permanent homes for displaced pets in our community. We offer adoption services, as well as placement and referral services, to successfully match pets with highly compatible people and families. Through public education, we encourage humane pet care and responsible, long-term pet ownership. We bring together people with pets, and individuals with their community, to create the social change needed to achieve our goal of reducing shelter euthanasia rates and eliminating pet overpopulation.
The Pet Adoption Center of Orange County (PAC-OC) connects adoptable pets with loving people and the resources they need to be a family for life. While we build our cage-free adoption center in Lake Forest, CA, our dogs are in foster homes. We provide counseling and placement services to potential adopters, assisting them in selecting a breed or blend whose characteristics are a suitable match for their home and lifestyle, and helping them to locate an adoptable pet through our referral network. The PAC-OC offers volunteer opportunities for adults, teens, and kids that can help them develop new skills, make friends, build networking connections, and give them a new perspective on life. To support the community, the PAC-OC offers regular public education courses taught by volunteers and advocates to encourage humane pet care and responsible pet ownership, and we support sterilization programs to reduce pet overpopulation.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our available pets, please email us for a copy of our adoption application, or visit the adoption page of our website to download one. The PAC-OC requires a completed adoption application, a home check, and an adoption donation. The standard adoption donation is $300. This may vary depending on individual animals and circumstances, which will be outlined in the adoption contract.
