Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) is a registered charity dedicated to helping animals in need, since 1999.
GTHS has no formal boundaries; it serves the area commonly known as the ‘Georgian Triangle’, which includes the communities of Wasaga Beach, Stayner, Creemore, Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, Thornbury, Clarksburg, Meaford and the surrounding areas. At times we have provided assistance to animals beyond this region.
OUR Mission
The Georgian Triangle Humane Society is a not-for-profit charity in the South Georgian Bay area. Our mission is to provide abandoned, neglected, and abused domestic animals a second chance in life at a forever home. We endeavour to accommodate as many domestic animals as our resources will allow in our dedicated shelter. We promote responsible pet ownership, including spay/neutering and micro chipping. Through educational programs we provide information regarding animal care, as well as the humane treatment of all domestic animals.
OUR Vision
We dream and work towards a world in which there are no stray, unwanted, abandoned, neglected or abused companion animals by building awareness of animal welfare rights, and promoting responsible pet ownership.

Additional adoption info
Choosing to adopt a pet is a very important decision – you are choosing to make a lifetime commitment to an animal. You are also choosing to take on the financial commitments that come with a pet – a healthy diet, regular vet visits, basic needs such as cat litter, licensing, training and more.
If you are interested in adopting a pet, you can view our animals available for adoption on this website, or visit our animal shelter at 549 Tenth Line in Collingwood, Ontario.
***NOTE: Please be aware that adoptions can take up to 24-48 hours to process. Please do not assume that an adoption can be completed and an animal taken home the same day that you apply.***
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO ADOPTING?
1) Come in, meet our animals and speak to a Shelter Staff member.
2) Choose an animal.
3) Fill out an adoption application form.
You will need to have information for two references and your veterinarian. If you are renting your housing, please bring contact information for your landlord.
4) Complete an interview.
An interview is completed to ensure that the animal you have chosen is the right one for you, and that you are the perfect owner for the animal. Our goal is to find our animals loving, forever homes, so we want to ensure that it is the right fit for both parties.
5) You will be contacted and notified if your application was successful.
If you are successful, a pick-up time will be arranged during our open hours of 12-4pm (open daily). At this appointment, you will be required to complete the adoption contract, review it with a Shelter Staff member and pay the adoption fee.
If you are unsuccessful, you will be notified and a reason will be provided.
Please note that is is possible to have multiple applications on an animal. In these circumstances, our Shelter Staff will select who they feel is the best fit for the animal.
